Come see the fastest swimmers in the world up close and personal for free!!!!

USA Swimming and the Dynamo Swim Club are looking for volunteers to help at the USA Swimming Short Course National Championships held at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, on November 29-December 1, 2007.

According to the press release.

Opportunity #1 – This is a great chance for our younger swimmers to witness the sport at its highest level. Many, if not all, the 2008 Olympic hopefuls will be participating in this meet; including Michael Phelps, Katie Hoff, Kate Ziegler, Ian Crocker, just to name a few. Tickets will go on sale soon; but key volunteer opportunities are available now. Young swimmers ages 9-12 are needed as athlete escorts to carry apparel baskets, lead the athlete parade for finals, or participate in the award ceremony. Maybe your child’s wish to meet Phelps or Ziegler will come true – a memory they will cherish forever.

Opportunity #2 – It will take a large number of volunteers to run this meet. Positions are available as hospitality, drug testing, registration, credentials, security, media relations, etc. This is your chance to help us show the rest of the world Dynamo’s Team Spirit and Commitment to Excellence.

Opportunity #3 – We need some assistance in the area of Corporate Sponsorship or donations:
• We are in extreme need of Corporate Sponsors to contribute food for hospitality. If you have restaurant connections, or know people in the food industry, we will have to feed approximately 250 officials, coaches, and volunteers each session. Without sponsors, this can become an extremely costly effort; deeply cutting into Dynamo’s chances of generating profits from this meet. There are advertising opportunities in hospitality for any sponsor who contributes – banners, tent cards on the tables, coupons or adds at the
Atlanta Information Booth at the venue.
• We are also in need of two (2) high-speed copiers for the four day duration of the meet. If you are in the office machine business, we would like to talk to you. If you have contacts in the office supplies, paper, T-shirt business; we also need your help.

I wish I knew about this meet sooner. I fly back to Denver on Nov 27. I would have loved to help out. I will be swimming at SA, DYNA, and hopefully Emory when I visit my son and daughter in law over Thanksgiving. Hope your drought ends soon.
