At our local SCM meet today, a group of men from Maine Masters swam a 200 free-relay in the 360+ age group. Wow! I think this is the first time this has ever been done. It was truly inspirational.

That is what I love about masters swimming!!! Swimmers like that are my motivation to just keep swimming! I hope to swim until I'm their age. Attaboy!:cheerleader:

It's not the first 360+ relay, but it may be the first men's 360+ relay to compete in short course meters (25m pool). Coast Masters of southern California swam two mixed 360+ relays a few years back:

200 Medley Relay (short course meters) - 5:12.04, COAST MASTERS, Madeleine Miller, Maxine Merlino, Walter Pfeiffer, Woodrow Bowersock, 10-19-03

200 Freestyle Relay (long course meters) - 5:26.80, COAST MASTERS, Helene Iberall, Maxine Merlino, Walter Pfeiffer, Woody Bowersock, 08-11-03

The same club also swam men's relays in long course (50m) a couple years ago:

200 Freestyle Relay - 3:46.35 COAST MASTERS, Dick Westerfield, Walter Pfeiffer, Robert Christains, Woody Bowersock, 08-15-05
400 Freestyle Relay - 10:43.13 COAST MASTERS, Bob Christians, Walter Pfeiffer, Wayne Mc Farland, Woody Bowersock, 08-05-07
800 Freestyle Relay - 25:29.59 COAST MASTERS, Wayne Mc Farland, Bob Christians, Walter Pfeiffer, Woody Bowersock, 08-05-07
200 Medley Relay - 4:13.67 COAST MASTERS, Robert Christians, Dick Westerfield, Walter Pfeiffer, Woody Bowersock, 08-15-05
400 Medley Relay - 12:59.05 COAST MASTERS, Woody Bowersock, Bob Christians, Walter Pfeiffer, Wayne Mc Farland, 08-05-07

Woody Bowersock was just or is about to be inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. He is amazing. Several years ago I was at a local Senior Games meet (50+) and happened to be standing next to the block that Woody was about to climb on to start his race. His being 91 at the time I thought he might want some help getting up on the blocks................silly me, he didn't need any help at all. He stepped up just as you and I would and was steady as a rock.
