I just noticed that an awful lot of people are currently logged on, testimony perhaps to how many of us don't have to work today and find our respective pools closed.

In any event, when I checked to see who some of the lurkers were, I discovered dozens of viewers identified only as Yahoo Slurp Spiders.

What is a Slurp Spider? It has a nice ring to it, I must say. Perhaps Karen Duggan might want to cast this name into the baby christening ring:

Slurp Spider Duggan.

Can't you hear the buzz at swimming meets 20 years from now?

"Did you see that 400 IM by Slurp Spider Duggan? Man, that yahoo is fast."

Yahoo! Slurp is Yahoo!'s web-indexing robot. The Yahoo! Slurp spider collects documents from the Web to build a searchable index for search services using the Yahoo! Search engine.

Apparently if it's hitting your site too hard, you can slow it down:

Excellent reminder of wisdom of keeping personal data out of forums.

Thanks for the info,

Slurp Spiders sounds like the name of a punk rock band :lmao: .

I agree that this is reminder to keep personal stuff out of the forums. It's the reason I don't even give my name.
