they blast a puff of air out their blow hole to create the ring

then my guess is:
they push the air ring by creating and using the pressure wave in front of their heads as they swim
they follow where the air ring is by using their sight and dolphin sonar to adjust how much to push the bubble
then they snip it with their snouts and it makes a smaller ring
it's very cool

I can blow bubble rings but they only rise up not go side ways
that video is one of the most popular videos on youtube
it'll be over 1,000,000 views by morning

Totally cool! This shall be my 2008 swim goal. Peaceful, fun, playful swimming. Music and all.
