    It's been a week or so out of the water as my wife and I make the drive to Prince Edward Island, with stops along the Bay of Fundy and Maine along the way. It was fun to see all of the Anne of Green Gables sights as well as the natural beauty of the island. Their masters teams take the summer off and I missed a tri group's ows.



    Here is today's Master workout with Greg and Libby:
    4 x 100 swim on :20sr
    1 x 200 pull on :15sr [extra 50] with snorkle
    2 x 100 k/s by 50 on "20sr [extra 50] with snorkle
    4 x 50 build on :20sr [extra 50] with snorkle

    Up early and drove across the state line to the Hoosick Falls, NY, outdoor pool for Adult Swim this morning. It's real cheap $1.50 for an hour. I don't get to come here often and sometimes there are lots of activities happening instead of swimming period but today the pool was open and I had a good workout.

    Took the weekend off from swimming and enjoying some quality family time. The age group team has a meet tomorrow night during out regular Masters time so I hit the pool before dinner tonight...

    I had a quick recovery workout on Tuesdays, primarily because the age group team in town hosted a swim meet without telling us ahead of time. Did 1200 yds in about 20 minutes.

    I took today off from work to attend a wedding on my wife's side of the family, but was able to get in the water before heading out. Here's what we did...

    200 swim/100 kick/200 pull

    4 x 100 on 1:50 swim [1 ez,1 fast] - did back then IM
    1 x 50 ez kick
    4 x 150 on 3:30 pull [descend] - I did 200s with snorkel
    1 x 50 ez kick
    4 x 75 on 1:30 [1 ez,1 fast] - did k-s-p with fast swim = RIM order
    1 x 50 ez kick
    4 x 50 on 1:00 [even]
    1 x 50 ez kick
    [Masters/Rec/2400 yds/60 min]

    I added some in the main set because I needed to skip out on the 300 warmdown. Felt good on the 200's and hit 2:29, :28, :28, :26 so pretty much hit the descend. I am sure that I will get some dancing moves in later at the reception

    It's been a busy week with my oldest brother and his family visiting from Washington State. He swam at UMass in the early '90s and usually hops in for a once a year workout but opted out. Today we are gather with other family for a small reunion, and it happens that today is also the 23rd anniversary of my mom passing away. It's nice to have extended family in town to help share some stories of the past. We had a nice visit with my aunt from Boston on Thursday as well.

    Here is a picture from the old homestead, with the farmhouse where my dad grew up to the left. I grew up about a quarter-mile way closer to the farm.

    Before practice this morning I met up with my first boss for his monthly breakfast with former employees at a local diner. Afterwards I made it to the rec to share in the Cinco de Mayo celebration...

    Uno: 500 warmup (200 swim/100 kick/200 pull)
    Dos: 5 x (200 on 3:30, 100 on 2:00)
    Tres: 5 deep water bobs
    Quatro: 5 x 50 on 1:10 (1-4: Quarter's Strong, 5: FAST)
    Cinco: 5 x 25 (decrease stroke count each time) then 125 loosen and out
    (Rec/Masters/2500 yds/60 min)

    Another full pool with Greg, Jim, Sean, Rebecca, Kevin, and Beth. I did quarter's strong on the 200, holding 2:23s then using the 100s as recovery. I descended the 25s 13 -> 9. Now to enjoy a beautiful day in New England!
