    As I left practice today, I spoke with Eddie Reese, UT Men were doing

    20 x 50 FLY on :35
    The goal was to make as many as they could
    if you miss you sit one out then resume going up 5 sec on the interval
    Eddie said "The faster you go the more rest you get"
    Jackson Wilcox held 26's & 27's looked relaxed and smooth, made them all
    Garrett Weber Gale made 10
    Glad I didn't do that set.

    we did a main set I've never done before

    still working on:
    + SDKs,
    + skinny streamlines,
    + deeper harder pushoffs on turns, &
    + conditioning, habit, mental toughness, & breath control to take 5 - 7 SDKs on my last turn in races

    Still pondering my training from now till Mid Feb
    I'm still waffling between training for the
    200 IM, BK & FR or the
    50 FR & BK & 100 IM
    I also hope to lose 10 to 15 lbs

    as I sat out and rested for my fast swims
    the swimmers did more rounds
    I had fun getting times for swimmers
    encouraging them and
    offering them suggestions like:

    + Streamline like Michael Phelps

    + Go a little deeper off your push offs

    + Take in a Big breath of air before your turn and hold it.

    + Take more SDKs off your start and turn on fly
    they dropped from 32 to 29

    + Try this Aqua V cap on your next fast swim
    I had one with me and let them try it out.

    The swimmers swam faster times.
    Maybe it was the my suggestions
    Maybe it was because I was paying attention to them and calling out their times.

    beside Hill Taylor and a couple other UT swimmers
    right now they are in finals so the whole team wasn't there

    Think I could have gone faster if I'd swum it first or been a bit more aggressive on the front end, pretty much dragged my legs on the fly and cruised the back, held back on SDKs in favor of AIR

    should have kept my kick going better on the last length of the FR

    skipped it
    was at this meet to try to break the WR in the 50 bk, thought the 100 fly would tire me too much

    went 31.49
    ran a few erronds Sunday morning,
    showed up at the pool thinking I had plenty of time, women's 50 BR was on the block and I was in the last heat of mens 50 breast
    warmed up in my B70
    don't remember much about the race other than I felt uncoordinated and really need to fine tune my breastroke technique to go faster
    Dave Guthrie went 30.2
    Jeff Commings went 28.0


    200 bk
    went for 50 bk split
    went 27.20 and broke Clay's 27.24 WR
    Finally got it before Chris Stevenson comes along to obliterate it
    made some race mistakes
    was too deep 10 kicks off the start and had to sharply angle up to surface
    didn't go deep enough on my turn and make a fountain with my first kick then was able to go deeper
    went 2:39 in my 200 bk got 2nd in my age group

    went 54.5
    25.8 28.7
    legs on the 3rd and 4th length
    hurt super bad
    should have gone out easier and back halfed it

    really wanted to swim the
    100 IM but ran out of time and had to go home


    NEWS FLASH
    Jeff Commings wore a blue seventy in his races made huge time improvements,
    he's come over to the dark side.

    saw many wonderful people at the meet:
    Jim Clemmons, Allen Stark, Erik Hochstein, Rich Abrahams, Philipp Djang, Al Jaegers, Bob Strand, and Sherri Hart (sorry if I left you out)

    this was a fun meet at a fast beautiful pool right on the beach
