  1. Long Course Friday

    Had a visitor today in my lane, Jen Bew. She was then followed by 2 beginner tri swimmers. Tri as they may We were lapping them regularly. We will have to teach them that if we are coming in to the wall wait for us to pass you there, otherwise we'll just embarass you by passing you in a matter of 5 strokes.

    This was another easy day for me, hopefully next week I can crank it back up to normal.

  2. Mastered the art of Sleep Swimming today

    Was up for 3 hours working on hospital issues yet I did still manage to make it to swim practice and work this morning. Today I mastered the art of sleep swimming!

    Yes you can swim with your eyes shut and sense when the light gets brighter so that you can open your eyes to do a flip turn here and there. The water was also so cold today that I decided to get out a little early.

  3. short workout today

    my right eye is swollen and goopy from my allergies. Ran out of Mucinex so I had to wait on my daughter to get home late last night. Starting to get everything back under control, but this will take about a week to get over.

    This is why I am starting to rethink ever doing a spring time meet out of my area. Just can't afford the allergies that comes with it and I hate having to take meds. Mucinex DM, Visine, Garlic and Cranberry. What a great combination.

    Even with all that my swimming today was great but I had to hurry in to change before the mob got in so I wouldn't have to answer questions about why my eye was now almost swollen shut. It is better now.

  4. It was a good meet despite the allergies

    First day of Nationals was fantastic a great 1650 and 1000 which I negative split the 1000. The rest of the races were all just a little bit faster than my best for the season which I am thankful for considering something was in bloom in Sarasota that I could not tollerate. Each day my allergies got progressively worse. Thankfully I made it thru.

    Yesterday I did an easy swim with no flip turns. Every time my head went under water it felt like it would explode.

    Today (Tuesday) I was feeling better in the pool. Still trying to get rid of all the mucus and congestion. So this was an easy one or was it?

  5. Why now?????

    Last night I had issues with my hip starting to cause me problems. Tried to do some Muscle Stim with my Compex last night and it helped some. The real answer is a trip to the Chiropractor but we leave 5am tomorrow and with my boss sick (hope I didn't catch it) today I have to cover his meetings and mine so there is no time to go. Ibuprofen and Compex are my best friends.....

    I am so ready to go to Sarasota, just have 2 more days of work to get thru. I feel like I may bounce off the walls soon.

    My son is wanting to join me on the trip. Anything to get out of school...

    Today was just nice and easy with a few sprints. Did not feel bad but did not feel good either.

    If I am loosing weight taper is going good. Now I have to force myself to eat enough to maintain.

  12. Week 2 of Taper - Skipped part of the meet due to work YUCK!

    I was too busy working most of saturday to even try to get in for a warmup so I just scrapped my swims and coached. My laptop on the table working with the hospital and vendors to fix an issue while trying to pay attention to my swimmers. It is days like this I wish I wasn't on call.

    I did swim the 100 Fly on Sunday and went 1:26.23. Not bad considering where I am in taper.

  13. Taper Day 5....sprint?

    I don't do sprints well so doing this is weird. But then again this is the reason I tend to loose weight during a taper. Speed work in short bursts works.

    Ok here is a question- tomorrow is a USA meet I am swimming 50 fly and 200 fly, I should qualify for finals for both events. I am 2 weeks out from Y Nationals should I swim finals or not? all opinions welcome.

  15. Taper day 3...seemed slow today but my shoulders don't hurt

    I am starting the repair process on my muscles they don't seem to hurt as much, nor my elbows. That is thanks to not swimming as hard with paddles. The back is still a pain but that is a different issue.

    Did not feel particularly fast today. My back stroke felt slow and sluggish, kick was lack luster. Freestyle felt decent. The fly felt comfortable but was having an issue with my left leg spasms.

  17. Bad back day and we know what that means

    Loads of fly drill to loosen up my lower back today. This was a fall in the water kind of day, but not one of my worst.

    Taper starts today. I have to get this distance taper figured out, it has been a while. Events for Y Nats are 1650 fr, 1000 fr, 400 IM, 200 free, 200 fly, 500 fr, 50 fly, 200 breast, 200 back, 100 back, 200 IM, 100 fly. How do you taper of all of that?!?!?

    It was 86 today in the pool. Just about shut down when I jumped in. Also had to deal with a suit malfunction. New rule... Any time your trying out a new suit always bring an old reliable one.

    Another friday flyer set, I also had to provide a workout for the kids team and the masters group. Knowing full well the masters would not like my long kick sets or the fly I was planning to do I gave them something more to their liking.
