Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. A quickie today

    Had my phone clip break so had to make a run to Walmart for a new phone carrying case and gas so this was a short one.

  3. Bad Back Day

    Had to do butterfly just to loosen up my back. I am still trying to recover from the weekend.

    At the end of practice this father walks in with his kids and sits two lanes down from me. I am about to choke from the smell of his cologe. It was like he bathed in it.

  4. Scratch finals in 200 IM yesterday

    My knee has been having issues when I push off walls, basically when it is straight. Did manage a good swim yesterday with my 200 Free, 200 IM was ok considering my knee and the 50 free STUNK!

    Today back to distance day. It was suposed to be easy recovery but I was feeling strong.

  5. The old lady made finals

    This is the second time I made finals but it wasn't in 200 fly which most kids and adults don't want to do twice.

    My 100 free was about the same as last year 1:18.58. The 200 back was also about normal at 3:22.81. My 50 back was 44.80 in prelims and 44.58 in the C finals those were my third and forth fastest times! I actually thought I went slower in finals but that was not the case. A rather successful day.

    I must say my body does not recover as well. Might need some
    Ibuprofen tonight.
  6. A great start to the meet

    They got the temperature down to 79.8 better than the 81.5 this morning. Swam my best 800 free in over 4 years with a 12:07.90.
    I am going to work on holding this pace for my full 1500.

    Tomorrow I have the 50 back, 100 free and 200 back. Can I recover by tomorrow morning? Good question we will see.

  7. Still no psych sheet for tonights kids meet

    Not sure if I will make the cut for the 800 free but am hopeful. Of Course the water is hot at 81.5 which I complained about yesterday to the guards. It was beautiful the beginning of the week, why do they have to screw it up? The Chatham County Aquatic Center needs to get their act together if they want to continue to have meets there.

  8. Just plain tired today

    Meet starts tomorrow and I have no energy so I went with it. My left knee was hurting but after the breast kick it seemed to loosen up enough to swim a decent breaststroke.

    This was a good start but I don't want to be drained by the end of the week for the kids meet. I am also hoping I make the cut to swim the 800 free friday night. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

    Yes the crazy girl came to practice today and actually lapped Mike Dayoub as he swam with paddles and fins while I went a 500 Fly.

  15. Slow day at the pool

    A warm water long course workout today. Nice to have to only share with Katy who I am used to sharing with during short course season.

    My fly felt better with each swim, same with the back and free. The breast my left knee cracked so many times but got better each time too.

    Today was a great distance workout despite the 81.5 degree water. At least I had my own lane.

  17. Hot pool and crowds, not a good combination

    The pool was on the hot side for me at around 82ish. When I am warm diving in I know it is not going to be good. Not only that but the rec pool was closed so everyone from there was trying to swim in the lap lanes.

    I had one USA swimmer in with me but if I can lap him he is way out of shape and he also does not know how to circle swim and just goes down the center. Next time if I have my paddles on I will knock him around a bit till he learns to circle.

    My whole goal today was just to do 3000 meters to reach the 250 mile mark for the year. Made that goal.

    The kids had a great meet this morning where I got sunburnt and tired. It is amazing what happens when you hop in a cold pool. Got to love it, speed!
