Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. Just taking longer to warm up these days

    Some of my fellow swimmers find it funny that I can barely move, walkup the stairs or bend over in the morning yet after a workout I am a different person.

  2. Lots of kids today

    Our small Saturday group grew from 3-4 to 8. I did get my 8-9 workout in.

  3. Ouch my aching back would not cooperate

    No matter what I did my back was horrid today. It is alittle better now but still not great.

    5x200@4:00 Fly w/fins as 50 rt arm/50 lt arm/50 kick/50 swim fast was really sluggish to start but got much faster toward the end, went 3:40, 3:37, 3:29, 3:27, 3:24 I even choked on the last 50 fly got a mouth full of water and had to stop for a moment

  4. Getting out of the "just feel drained" rut

    I am not coughing as much but seem to be tired more. I am getting more sleep than 3hrs a night. Maybe that is it "I don't need sleep". Right...

  5. Did I wake up and swim?

    Yes I did but did I swim anything worth writing about? Not really. Felt like I just could not move in the water, just a slow sluggish floater.

  6. Finally SLEEP!!!! Only coughed for an hour

    Wonderful sleep, finally got about 4-5 hours of non coughing sleep! Don't get me wrong during the day and this morning I am still hacking up a lung but to finally get sleep....

    Had a great workout too.

  7. Will it ever end?

    My allergies NEED to GO AWAY!

    Took it easy today, tried out a new pair of goggles to see how they would help my body position. I got big eye circles now.

  8. Day 3 and I am in shock

    Dispite feeling like I am hacking up a lung yet another day of great swims for me.

    My 100 Fly was a 1:22.81 an all time best time for me as a masters swimmer.

    My 50 Free was a 28.93 a great swim for me especially since my last outing was a horrid 32

    Total yards 1500 with warmups/downs.

  9. Day 2 was another great surprise

    Got no sleep last night since all I did was cough all night long. So I got up at 5:30 had to meet with someone to give a ride to the meet.

    During warmup I felt ok be felt significantly slower than Friday night.

    First up was the 200 Fly normally my time hovers around 3:15 but this time I went a 3:11.22

    My 500 Free I was determined to do better than Friday nights splint and much better than my last swim which was horrid. Went a 6:20.78 for this outing which ranks in my top 5 swims ever.

  10. Pleased with my first swim of the meet

    With as bad as I was feeling all day I really expected to do poorly. I am tired of coughing all the time and ready to be normal again.

    My first swim was the 1000 Free and I broke 13:00 which I did not expect for today. I could see my split at the 500 and it was 6:29. I thought not bad but I didn't think I could negative split my back half of the race. I came back in 6:30 for a time of 12:59.57. Only 9 seconds off my time from last year when I was healthy.

    with warmups and warmdowns the total for this session was 2500 yards

  12. When is the congestion going to end

    Another day of yuck so I guess my swims this weekend will suck. I hate feeling bad before a meet but like the diehard I am I will swim anyway. Have too set a good example for the kids I coach.

  13. Still feeling yucky but managing to do better

    Not quite as bad as yesterday but still not great. Took some Musinex DM last night and that seemed to help alittle. Today was just be different day. Yes Breaststroke of sorts.

    I added some butterfrog today because nothing annoys me more than to be swimming a 200 fly and be in the lead but lose to the gal next to you when she reverts to butterfrog on the last 50. I still can't bring myself to do it in a meet but I want to be able to use it if I need to.

  14. Head Cold is worse but still suffering thru it

  15. Head colds suck when you have a meet coming up

    My head is congested as well as my chest. It was hard to breath in the pool today but I still managed a great workout.

  16. Learn to sprint day

  18. Could not get up this morning

    After a go-live gone bad last night I was working from 8p-midnight. I just needed sleep more. Then today didn't get any better at all. Someone turned the server on that was causing us issues last night so for an hour and 1/2 my boss and I tried to bring things back up as fast as it would go down.

    I'M TIRED!!!!!! I'll swim tomorrow and I may have to do a 500 FLY! I shall see how I feel in the morning.

  19. Slept in and still got to the pool

    Not a good day but my back was not as bad as yesterday. Gave in to the sleep, then on the way in found a cheaper gas station so had to take advantage of the price.

  20. Could barely get up the steps this morning

    My back was so locked up I felt pain every step I took. During practice it just took a while to loosen up some, but still was agrevating.

    After it is all over, showered and changed I am feeling much better but still not 100%. Oh well that is my life.
