Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. Disappointing Friday --- Short course

    I was so looking forward to a good long course workout only to see the pool was short course today. YUCK!

    So much for my planned workout so I improvised.

    5x100@:10R kick alt by 100 free/fly

  2. Easy on arms tough on legs

    My legs were hurting but decided they needed more work to get the fat off.

  3. Another fly day

  4. My legs will be aching tonight

    Yes it was that evil stroke that did it too me again. I really didn't feel like a hard workout but it became that for me.

  5. back to the grind

    Since I felt fairly good today I decided to just do a normal workout rather than take it easy.

  6. Day two was a little cooler in the pool

    Thank goodness the temp came down to about 80 which was fine.

    Was tired today but still managed a good 50 Free in 32.26 only off by .2 seconds. The 200 Back was ok but not great. I probably could have pushed alittle more but then I didn't want to.

    The 100 Free was supposed to be a just warm up for the 100 Fly but it turned into more of a race than I wanted. I went 1:13.27 not great but harder than I wanted to go.

    By the 100 Fly I was tired but since I have never swam it before this was a personal best at 1:34.72.

    Normally after this many events I am tired and the 400 Free was decent today but not great. went 5:45.24

    total was 2700 meters again

  7. Too hot for my liking but doing ok

    The water at the meet is 83 degrees which is too hot for me. When I dive in and the first thing I feel is "BATH WATER" I just shut down. Later the temperature seemed to be coming down just a bit. Maybe we splashed enough water out today that they will refill with cold water!!!

    Started with the 100 IM which went ok not a best time but then I haven't done breast in 2 years due to knee issues so I was pleased with my 1:27.23.

    Next up was the 200 Fly in a 3:35.19. About 4 seconds slower than I had swum a few years back. At least I did not get lapped by Robert Poiletman!

    Had time for a 200 warm down and then back in for the 100 Back 1:28.53 which actually went well considering I had just finished the 200 Fly.

    My 50 Fly was my best swim going a 37.40 only .02 off my best! I'll take it as a best equivolent.

    The 400 IM was last and I was experimenting here since I know I had no breaststroke to speak of. The fly went well, my back was better than normal. Breast... oh yes there was something like a breast stroke. My free felt strong. Wish I could swim breast better. I've got all year to work on it.

    I am also having a reaction to the salt water filtration in this pool for most of the meet I have been very itchy. Even lotion is not helping much. Didn't have this problem last year.

  8. Back locked up again

    Yesterday was a painful day as was this morning. I looked like a little old lady trying to climb the steps.

  9. Light day today

    Figured I would give myself a break since the shoulders are both still sore. I have a meet this weekend and no practice tomorrow because the pool is closed unless I want to try to get in at the Y but that is in the wrong direction for work.

  10. Muscles are sore today

    Muscles are sore in the shoulders both sides. Did not really loosen up today but knew this would be how today would go. Lower back issues made me decide to do fly.

  11. Strength in more ways than one

    What a morning. Time to get some rest.

    Had a great workout today but then my locker would not open for anything after banging for 10 minutes on it I did finally get it to open but not without breaking it. They said this is not the first time they have had an issue like this.

    I borrowed the first part of the workout today from Tom (thanks) and it fit purfect

  12. One word to discribe the meet today - AWESOME!

    After swimming for over 6 years now and not really seeing big time drops lately my first race today was just plain AWESOME! Went 1:20.52 in the senior age group taking 8th! No, I was not last...

    My best was a 1:22.81 done 2 weeks ago.

    By the time we got to the 50 Free at the end of the meet I was tired from coaching. Even being tired I managed a 29.02. I concider anything under 30 to be an accomplishment for me.

  14. I sometimes feel I am falling apart but then....

    I never let that stop me.

    Still having issues with my left ankle, left elbow and now my right shoulder. I want the first full body transplant when it becomes available. Something young in good shape.

    Oh well I can dream.

  15. Back in my normal pool

    Back at the CCAC in Savannah. Water was good temperature. Decided on a mostly drill & leg workout of sorts. Stayed off of intervals until the clocks were turned on.

  16. Had to wake up the guard

    One of my swimmers was the guard this morning and I had to call him to make sure he was coming so I could work out before going to vote. Needless to say I swam at the Y today.

  17. Just taking longer to warm up these days

    Some of my fellow swimmers find it funny that I can barely move, walkup the stairs or bend over in the morning yet after a workout I am a different person.

  18. Lots of kids today

    Our small Saturday group grew from 3-4 to 8. I did get my 8-9 workout in.

  19. Ouch my aching back would not cooperate

    No matter what I did my back was horrid today. It is alittle better now but still not great.

  20. Getting out of the "just feel drained" rut
