Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. Taper is here for sure

    That just can't get moving feeling is here. Of course I do have to consider I don't eat before I swim so that may play into this alot.

    1000 Free supposed to be long & loose but I pushed it some for a warm up 13;58

    Still feeling sluggish in the water but getting better each day

  5. Feel like I am in the YUCK of taper - too early

    I think my illness last week has put me a week ahead on taper. Not good.

    Oh well not a particularly good day, still some nausea, lack of energy and all round not great but still managed a workout.

    10x100@:10R Free at pace subtract 1:30 from the time which came out to 13:58 only 1 minute off yuck
    10x50 from Dive 15 meter breakouts the first 3 and last 2 were not to bad everything in the middle just stunck couldn't get my streamline on the start

  7. More Coaching than swimming today

    Swam the usual with Sandra and Joe today.

  8. Recovery after stomach flu

    Out for 2 days due to stomach flu. Not fun. Did manage a workout today on an empty stomach. Kind of surprising.

    4x200@3:30 Free w/paddles & bouy suprised myself here went 3:15, 3:09, 3:04, 3:01

    Took 3 Ibuprophin before this one. My quads were cramping while I was driving this morning.

    My weightlifting has been going good but it is effecting my swimming some too.

  14. Chasing the pain away and the swimmers

    Yes it was a long course Friday and yes I did my usual 500 Fly.

    I was interupted by swimmers trying to join me who just couldn't keep up. I ran over one as I was kicking fly on my back. You know a good ab workout.

  15. Attempting to sprint some

    Testing the leg out today with a lot more kicking and some sprint work. My kick did not feel as strong as it had been or I was too timid to push it real hard. Not sure which.

  18. Distance focus today for the most part no legs

    Started with a distance workout because there was no kick in the workout. Hip is feeling better but still don't want to hurt it again this close to Nationals.

  19. Saturday recovery

    Today I just did the usual with the girls and then worked with Tom on backstroke turns with a flat wall.

    40x25 various drills 20 fly, 10 back and 10 free
    5x100 with 5 pullups between each 100

    After workout and working with Tom I soaked in the hot tub and then went for a massage.

    Yes with my hip hurting and determined not to kick, but then I decided to try fly and ... I feel so much better now. It may not last but I have not taken any Ibuprophin today!
