Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. Hated being out for 2 days before a meet

    Have a meet tomorrow, 100 back, 100 fly and 500 free with the kids. We will see how it goes.

  2. The NON EVENT!

    I had to miss swimming today because they closed every pool due to snow. Guess what IT's JUST RAINING!!!!! Had to do 45 minutes on my spin bike this morning and I guess I will do 1 hour of walking in the parking decks since even the gym at the hospital I work at is closed till 12 noon.

    I feel like a fish flopping on the deck. I miss my water.

  3. Last good workout before the storm cuts into my practice

    With the winter weather coming in tonight and my kids practice already cancelled I doubt the pool will be open tomorrow. I quess it will be a dry land kind of day tomorrow. Maybe it will be the usual non event!

  6. Trying to use my legs more when I swim

    Today I had Jerry next to me and there is something about this that makes me just push more than I would normally push in warm up. I have to keep up or.... It is just the competitor in me.

    Just an added note on the leg front, Since November I have added a 30 minute brisk walk every Monday-Friday during lunch to help lose weight and thin my legs. I am now ready to move down a size in cloths, even though the weight has remained the same lately. I know putting on more muscle...

  7. Sprint day, I really need to get the body moving faster

    I just didn't feel fast but I was trying! The more I do it the better I will get. I think Tuesdays and Thursdays will be either stroke or sprint days since Monday, Wednesday and Friday I typically have to share lane space now that the SCAD is back in the water.

    This was an old Leslie Livingston workout. I have some of her workouts now on my laminated index cards. Easy to keep on deck and reuse.

  8. Burn baby Burn those thigh muscles

    Luckly Julie and I are skilled at just splitting the lane. If we had to circle I would have been running over her and others.

    Today I also did my leg set that really does burn my thighs. Burn baby burn.

  10. Did the IM Pyranid at the Y today

  12. Backstroke on tap and work those legs

    There is a new set I am doing frequently 10x50@1 kick w.zoomers maintaining 47 really makes my thighs burn good! I will incorperate that into my workouts atleast 2 or 3 times per week.

    I am starting to see the weight coming off now. The team tried to get me to go to breakfast this morning and I did but I did good. I ordered a bagel, egg, cheese and bacon had them cut it in half. At half now and will have the other half for lunch today.

  14. Distance and leg work, what a combo

    After my swims this weekend I know I need my legs and the area that was burning during my 200 fly was my thighs. There are some that say I don't kick, well if I didn't my thighs would not have hurt, right?

    Today was a freestyle distance day but I did work those thighs with a strong kick set.

    It was raining, I was 10 minutes late cause I had to get gas but I still managed to bang out 3000 in 65 minutes. I love Tuesday's and Thursday's when the pool is empty. Why can't every day be like that?

  16. Recovery day or was it...

    Yesterdays swims went well but the 200 fly did not go like I had hoped. I knew I had to attack it more and I did, I died after the first 100. Oh well I will try again in February, March and April. A 50 free after the 200 fly is not a good idea, especially when my coach puts my time in at a 28 instead of the 30 I told him to use. The 400 IM went really well and I was really just cruising that one. I would love to see how it could have gone if I attacked it.

  17. A good first day of this kids meet

    I managed a great 200 breast considering I don't swim it much because of my knees. My 200 IM was 5 seconds faster than my best last year.

    Tomorrow is the 200 fly, 50 free and 400 IM to finish my IMX. I want to go 3:12.07 or better tomorrow in the 200 fly. Hopefully I can get there.

  18. Not confident about this weekends meet pool is 82.5 not good

    The pool is too warm for a meet let alone any fast swimming. I did feel better not being on Mucinex DM today. Since I had a pace swimmer next to me during warmup I could help but push more than I should have today.
