Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. Needed to do something different

    Needed a change of pace today. I have been doing some butt, thigh and ab workouts lately that have really got my legs screaming but my swimming hard has got my arms screaming too. So I decided to hurt myself even further with some breaststroke today. I know I am crazy.

    And tomorrow will be a tough one with the team.

  2. Not too bad for my first open water race

    Placed 2nd in my age group out of 25. 2.4 miles in the river in Charleston in 42.38. Pleased with the swim. I am not used to getting hit and run into during the start but once I got into pace it wasn't too bad.

    After the drive home I proceeded to do a leg workout that I am still feeling today.

    Today's workout was tough. Need an easy day tomorrow.

  5. Tough one today

    My accomplishment for today was not getting lapped on the 600's by Mike Ried. This was a tough workout today. The rest of the week will be easy since I have my first open water race on Saturday, the Low Country Splash in Charleston.

  6. An interesting excersize in passing and being passed

    Masters had 2 lanes Long Course with 9 swimmers in each, with everyone at various speeds. Not a good day for the workout that was given.

    My arms felt dead doing fly today. Oh wait maybe that is because I did some heavy weightlifting last night. I have one meet in june with the kids were I will finish up my IMX events.

    This years goals are weight loss first, open water second, swim meets third.

  13. Very tired today

    After a day of heavy fruit I just had no energy today. I have to admit I really do better after high protien days or mixed protein/fruit/veggie days. This is week 6 of whatching what I eat. Bread is a no no for me. I just hate that I can't have it without my sugar getting too high in the mornings.

    Today I did my long swim and it was more relaxed rather than pushed. Went 3750.

    Oh well.

  14. Not a bad meet

    This meet was just ok. Considering my diet and weightlifting this week I am not surprised that my times were just so so. I accomplished what I wanted which was to motivate two of my older girls to beat me. They did finally.

  18. Much better distance swim today

    Did my 1 hour swim. I was late so warm down was short. Felt strong and did much better than my previous 2 mondays. 3925 yards averaging 1:31 per 100.

  19. This was a really tough one today

    We swam the entire workout on a 1:40 per 100 interval, which for me is challenging. Especially for warmup. The entire workout was with paddles and bouy, my favorite toys!
