Mixing it up this year

I really like my toys and will continue to use them. The mix will be both distance and sprints. My focus for this year is to maintain my 200 fly time.

  1. Sprint attempt

    I tried to sprint today. My Free felt great and strong but my fly felt uncoordinated. I know what I have to work on.

    The Aquatic center put in the blocks but in the wrong lane so I only have acess to them twice a week, since another group uses that lane M, W, F.

  2. Distance Day but still no energy

    Managed to do a great set but it started out slow and had its moments.

  3. Much better day today

    I actually had good energy today but still dealing with the elbow and lower back issues.

    This is the first time in a long time my distance set was were it needs to be.

  4. A no energy sprint attempt

    Just could not seem to move. Even Coach Walt commented that my swimming looking tired. It felt like I was tired too.

    I know part of it is that I don't eat before I swim practice but I do before a meet. That is what makes the difference.

  5. Back to normal

    After a weekend at Disney and no real sleep since my son decided he was not going to meet me at the appropriate time. 4 hours later and I am fuming!

    Needless to say today is my lack of sleep but a release of anger.

    Back was sore but after warmup not too bad.

  7. Back tight but still felt fairly good

    You know what happens when my back hurts...FLY! The crazy woman showed up today and yes it was a 500 Fly day.

  8. Not a bad swim today

    Felt much stronger than normal. I also used alot of pillows last night to try and prop up my legs and relax my right arm/elbow and just try not to wake up quite as stiff as I usually do.

  9. Swim thru the mess that is me

    This morning the old lady climbing the steps was back, she barely made it up and just fell in the pool rather than dive.

    Had to do some fly to have a chance at a great day later. The elbow was stiff too but obeyed.

  10. The good the bad and the ugly

    The OLD lady was back trying to climb the steps this morning. I knew I was locked up on Sunday and that Monday was going to be no different. The first 500 was painful on the back. As for the elbow it was also sore but different type of sore.

    3x400@7:00 Free w/paddles & bouy went 6:25, 6:13, 5:59 last one was hard to maintain but I need to get my distance in before Nationals.
    3x200@4:00 fly w/fins as 50rt arm/50lt arm/50 kick/50 swim easy this was for my back only was going to try a sprint set but the back was not willing to cooperate.

  11. A great day today

    No elbow pain or back pain! AWESOME! I do have to admit I took two aspirin before bed and two in the morning.

    My swimming was also much better than normal.

    Update - had a massage at lunch which has really helped loosen things up even more. I hate paying so much but it is well worth it when I need it.

  12. Distance workout

    This is the first time in a long time that I have been able to do a distance workout. It was not as fast as I would have liked but I have a few weeks still.

    The elbow was ok thru all of this, only twinges here and there that I could adjust and push thru.

    15x100@1:45 Free w/paddles & bouy held 1:35's would like to get back down to 1:30's but 1:35 was a good first time back

  13. Just trying to stay in the water

    My massage is scheduled for FRIDAY!!!! Till then I will just hang on thru the workouts.

    Elbow is still hurting but my back pain has subsided some the last few days. I think the elbow issue is actually a neck and back muscle issue that is just radiating down. I wish I could afford a daily massage. A dream...

  15. Miserable Meet but the kids did well

    I just hurt for this meet. It was not good. My best swim was being off on my 100 Free by 2 seconds. My 50 was off by 4 seconds???? I just got worse this time. My 200 back stunk and my 100 back did not even beat my split time for the 200 back????

    I enjoyed watching my kids drop LOTS of time!!!! That was the shining light of the meet.

  16. Good Workout despite all the aches and pains

    Getting old stinks! I am not even 50 yet I feel like I am 75 most mornings.

    Did manage a decent workout today.

  17. Thunder and lightening doesn't stop us

    This morning I was so tempted to sleep in but drug my self out of bed any way. After all as long as I am heading to the Aquatic Center they will be open, storming or not!

    Craig Harney and I had the entire long course pool to our selves for the first hour!

  18. Decent day overall

    Another great day when I got to the pool. No pain going up the stairs! This time no incidents on the deck either.

    Still have the elbow issue and am continuing with the ice, heat and ultrasound therapy's. As much as I hate taking drugs I am going to start back on aspirin for the inflamation.

  19. Thought I was feeling good today

    I got out of the car got up the stairs and low and behold No Back Pain! A great start, normally I look like a little old lady trying to get up those stairs.

    When I finally got on deck and put my stuff down at my lane, I was just standing there and OUCH my back just spasmed painfully. Then and there my workout changed to a fly workout to loosen up. Yes my elbow is still an issue but sometimes the back pain outweighs the other aches and pains.

    I want a full body transplant, something young, slim and strong please!

    Testing out the elbow, still having issues.

    Had 2 ultrasound treatments, as well as ice and heat. I think my computer work is not helping at all either.
