Danke shön! I've tried to get off the 'idle' bus this week.

I've been in Bavaria for about 6 weeks now and I have to say that I love it so far. It's July 9th and I've had to wear a sweater to the bus stop the last two mornings. Of course, I'll pay for that come January, but I'm certainly not complaining now! The pool close to work is the only indoor LCM pool I know of in this area, but there are quite a few outdoor LCM pools. I hope to explore one of them on Saturday.

    Hi TJ -

That's a nice workout..good job writing and swimming that one. I've been very busy, not much time to swim although trying to get to miller park soon!

Most of the pools I've swam in outside of the US seemed to be LCM. A few SCM in London, but most everywhere else they seemed to be LCM.

Great to hear that you're getting back into swimming!!! I'd love to be in Bavaria this time of year, would be fantastic running weather.

This particular pool remains set up for LCM all year round. There are many others in the area that are SCM and a few outdoor LCM pools. This pool has a master's team that practices from 8:00 to 9:00 twice per week. I think I will try and join them most of the time so that I can get some sorely needed work on my stroke. And so I can improve my fitness!

Is this pool LCM all year around or will go back to SCM in the fall? Just wondering if they have a different procedure in Germany.

Glad to see you back on line. Hope the culture shock is good. Do you speak German?

LC is a bear. It can really break you down, but it's also good for working on strokes.

I hope to find a Master's team because I find it difficult to motivate myself to the point that a team with a coach does.
It is a huge difference in terms of culture, but the indoor LC pool where I swam today is old but very nice. Cool, very clear, with no post-swim chlorine smell. The locker room is a different setup than anywhere I've ever been.
You walk in and there are individual changing rooms. From the changing room, everyone shares a common locker room. Then the showers are separated. It was just different, but it seemed to be an efficient use of space.

Way cool and congrats on your move. This has to be quite a change from Lynchburg! How are the pools and will you eventually find a Masters' team there to train with?

Thanks Donna. Right now, I'm placing more importance on learning my two 'off' strokes than I am on speed work, which is why I put the stroke stuff at the front of the practice.
However, the lack of compliance by my body could have just as much to do with the lack of sleep, the moving of furniture for a yard sale, and the half-dozen donuts and coffee that morning!:-)
I'm hoping today is a speed workout, but we'll see.

I know how you feel, some days you want to sprint but it seems the body just can't comply with this request. Especially at the end of a workout. Try doing your faster set or swim at the beginning of the workout so that you are fresher.

This looked like a good stroke workout not so much a sprint workout. At the end of a practice you are going to be tired and that is expected. Good Job!

Actually, I'm hoping to get her to coach three times per week! I'm enjoying these regular 100s.

Elisa won't coach even once in awhile in Germany? Looks like you're on a roll. Gotta keep that up.

TJ if she's still having goggle issues...cap over goggs pulled low over the top edge will keep them in even on a bad dive.

If you want, I can ask Bill White, our coach, to put you on his email list. He sends out the practice for A,B, and C lanes 3x a week. Not as good as swimming with others, but they are good workouts.
