Just keeping it real . . . .
Nice morning - not as cool as forcasted & no rain until after we got out of the pool!
Missing Jennifer today, but it allowed me to work harder I think on the 12 x 100's - Terry put the Distance Free people into 2 lanes - which meant 2 moldy-oldies & 5 kids - I told the kids we needed a lane leader, so Hannah jumped in - but she goes about a 1:05 on all her 100's, so even going second I didn't get a draft! I was happy to see myself repeating 1:12's again - basically going first ahead of Sela & some kid that couldn't keep the interval. I'm feeling a lot stronger in the water this week - don't know if it's because my biorhythms are UP, or if its due to my finally getting payoff for all my hard work!! Yesterday on my fly, I was literally "flying" over the water - it felt so good!
4 x 200 P on 3:00
8 x 50 K on 1:00
12 x 100 on 1:20
8 x 25 (one drill, 2 4-cycle, one sprint) on :30
100 EZ - kids got out here & the rest is a modified version of what he had the breast stroke lane doing
150 Breast/Free thingy
300 Breast/Free thingy
150 Breast/Free thingy*
4 x 100 P on 1:30
*just in case you're wondering what a thingy is (my own personal design) one stroke, one free, two stroke, one free, one stroke - and you choose your distance, thus on the 300 it is 50 breast, 50 free, 100 breast, 50 free, 50 breast. I like it, and it saves my shins on those long breast stroke sets. And my shoulders when I do it butterfly. We never do it backstroke, lol.
Surprised to see Bill M at the pool this morning - sort of surprised to see myself! It's hard to get OOB when I know I'm going to be swimming solo. Bill apparently had to come today because he can't come tomorrow, so lucky me, I had someone to push me. I know I swam MUCH harder than I would have on my own, even though we didn't even do the same intervals. He calls these ridiculously slow intervals & I guess to show off, I always make my intervals 15 sec faster - why I don't know, but I figure Terry isn't going to let me get away with 200's on the 3:00 ever, so I shouldn't get used to it!
700; 100 free, 25 back/25 breast repeat, ending w/100 free
300 P w/snorkle no paddles
5 x 200 IM on 3:15 alt IM twitch w/full IM
5 x 200 P on 2:45 (so much more do-able than 2:40's - not sure why 5 sec extra rest makes so much difference!!)
10 x 50 K on 1:00
I'm glad I went this morning - I was sort of tight from tennis last night - had a great game with my husband - played 21 - beat him 21-18 on the first one, he clobbered me 21-15 on the second. It's funny, he gets really mad because I'm leading something like 10-5, so he sends these lighting balls for his serves - like 6 in a row - and of course aces me every time. I don't think of that as exactly playing tennis - I think of that as practicing my serve!! But it got him ahead enough that I couldn't recover, lol!
Water temp cooler this morning, thank goodness - maybe only one degree, but still a big improvement.
3 x 200 P
6 x 250: 150 free & 100 IM
4 x 25 sprint, with 7 SDK at the start of each
6 x 100 P on 1:25
300 free w/zoomers working walls (SDK off each)
Total: 4800 SCY
Have 1/2 day of work today - so plan on playing tennis this afternoon w/my hubbie IN THE DAYLIGHT! Woo Hoo! What a concept! I hate leaving daylight savings time. Matter of fact, I hate cold, dark, dreary winter days period.
I've been slacking. Sad to say, but I've got to admit it. I've been having a hard time wrapping my brain around how much time is needed to do all my charting at work. I (mistakenly) thought I could swim at lunch twice a week, and so have only been swimming before work MWF. I've been playing tennis in the evenings a couple of nights a week & on Saturday mornings. Great fun - but, I need to get back to business. The water is warmer than I would like at 83-84F, but I've got to be able to push myself harder in spite of it. And I'm going to have to get myself out of bed at least one more morning each week (not tomorrow - got to go early & vote!). Somehow I need to add in a bit of strength training, too.
