    Back from a nice vacation - but no swimming in over a week. Mi espalda tiene MUCHO dolor from being stuck in the car for 7 hours on Friday. Swam a paltry 3200 last night (solo) to get the kinks out, and could sorta feel my lower back hurting, but this morning, when I got up, you would think I had slipped a disc or something (in my sleep?). Tried to go to the gym, but wasn't able to do much of anything - got a massage, went to the pool, paltry 2000 thanks to my back, home again - tried to clean the pool - now I have 2 percocets in me, and I am still not only awake, but still hurting. Fortunately, I know this shall pass - I just hope it's gone by Monday, so I can get after it again. Funny, how last month, the meet in October seemed like a long ways away, but now, suddenly seems right around the corner. With all the upcoming excitement this summer (we're getting a new kitchen! and my boy comes home from the Netherlands!!) time will fly, I'm sure. So I want to get healthy, (and thinner) and drop some time! Today, however, the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

    Lazy yesterday - didn't go to the gym OR the pool, lol! I DID get some extra sleep, however. Must have had too much though, because I woke up at ~12:15am, 2am, and 4:20am. Got up at 4:50 w/out a problem, had a pretty good workout. Sorry to say that it seems like I am at the age where I'm going slower, despite everything. I might be able to pull off fairly equivalent times in a meet, but in practice, I have definitely slowed down. I was hoping to be able to continue keeping 100's on the 1:20 (SCY) or 1:30 (LCM) for another 10 years or so, but well, what can I say. I can do 3. Used to be able to go on forever at that pace.

    400 back/free (missed the first 100 of this)
    300 pull (didn't pull it)
    200 IM
    100 over/under
    4 x 300 @ 4:50
    3 x 200 @ 3:10
    50 easy
    5 x 100 Pull @ 1:35 (moderate effort, came in ~ 1:29's)

    Going on vacation after practice on Friday - and the only swimming I will be doing will be in a "lazy river". Might pick up an extra practice in the morning to make up for it. Or not. Vacations are good. Rest is good.

    Shoulders totally shot from zip-lining on Saturday - but I don't regret a thing!

    Water was nice and cool, and it's starting to really get light outside by the time workout is done.

    200 kick
    5 x 400, descend 1-5; last 2 were pull (that's when I realized my shoulders were toast)
    200 easy
    8 x 25, drill/sprint; stroke/free @ :30
    200 easy
    500 odds & ends cool down - including 200 kick

    **Having a bit of a time trying to feel "up" - last 2 weeks at work have been kinda rough, emotionally. Not been having really any fun at the gym, can't seem to get myself out of bed and to the pool on the weekends. Looks like my vacation next week is right on schedule.

    Really glad Mother's Day is over. This was possibly the most stressful Mother's Day I've ever had, and I'll just leave it at that.

    Friday's workout was rather pathetic - I wasn't feeling too good - too much caloric deprivation, I think, or not. I just had no energy & I don't know what else to blame it on. Today was MUCH better.

  5. Cinco de Mayo 2014

    I am really in the Cinco de Mayo spirit this year. We have been eating Mexican food seems like all week, and today, we are REALLY going to have Mexican yummies!! Except no churros - I have no restraint when it comes to churros!

    Lower back still hurting a little w/flip turns, although much better than last Monday. I need to do something different on Sundays - I think too much laying around & keeping the Sabbath isn't healthy for my back. Not sure what to add in, however. Perhaps a lovely walk through the neighborhood w/my hubbie. It's kinda hard to blend spiritual and the need to move on Sundays, but I'm sure I'll figure it out, being a big girl and all.

    Water temp back to normal this morning, thank goodness!! Only Sela and me swimming beside ATAC - Jenna must have had a busy work day planned. I do NOT envy her her job. She has to travel waaaay too much.

    Wishing I was at Nationals in Santa Clara. Instead I'm here in Rainy-Overcast Florida. Yesterday Trousdale got the heater fixed, and of course, they over shot the desired temp, so instead of 75 degrees, it is now 84. Just wasn't feeling it;

    Sun finally came out just around the 8 x 100, so I was lazy, and enjoyed working on my freckles. I SO wish I had a swim buddy for Saturdays!

    Apparently the heater broke, and the water temp was 75 - went to another pool and swam by myself. MUCH better.
