New Year...New Goals

Two days on, two off

Rate this Entry
Saturday- 11.5 mile run, good pace, calves cramped with 2 miles to go, was too cold to stop and stretch, big mistake.

Sunday- 3 mile recovery run.

Monday- Needed a day off

Tuesday- Tried to run, felt like crap in general...legs hurt, headache, etc. Going to try to workout tomorrow.

I think I need to take a look at my diet. Salads aren't working for lunch anymore, I think I need more food, maybe rice/veggies/chicken. There always comes a point in training (for whatever long distance thing I'm training for) where my body just does this, it needs more calories. I have felt pretty empty for the last few days and have had this headache for a week now. I don't think it could be overtraining because I backed off on the spin classes the last two weeks. Whatever it is, it needs to go away SOON because one day off was fine, but today is just making me angry. I don't even want to go to the pool to swim...and I NEED a swim too if I'm going to sign up for the Richmond meet. UGH!

Thanks for listening!

Are you having any chicken on that salad? I couldn't live on veggy salads alone! Sounds like you need some more protein and carbs. And are you eating w/i 30 minutes of swimming?

I know the feeling though. One day off is fine, but you'd like to get back to it the next day without feeling like crap.

salads are good, as long as they meet 2 criteria:

    1) they need to be big (like filling up a 6 cup tupperware container...)

and 2) they must have some sort of protein on them...

if they're not meeting both 1) and 2), you're probably undernourished right now...
(and full fat dressings are okay, as long as you aren't dousing the salad with them!)

We've been eating large salads at night (although we usually get plenty of protein by adding a piece of fish) with sunflower seeds, either goat cheese, feta or gorgonzola crumbles, craisins, tomatoes and a homemade blackberry vinaigrette! I love them, but I don't know that it would suffice following a good swim practice.

I always have chicken on my salads and use a vinaigrette dressing of some sort

TJ- I'll take one of those! Sounds delicious...sunflower seeds, goat cheese, feta, craisins....YUMMY!

Trader Joes made these rice bowls with brown rice and veggies that were so good and now I can't find them. They weren't spicy like a lot of their bowls. I'll have to go to another store because I loved those for lunch. I would usually add some chicken and a little soy sauce. There also was a teriyaki chicken rice bowl that they didn't have when I looked this week. UGH! I guess I'll have to actually start cooking my own lunches. Dinner, fine, but I hate cooking for lunch.
