Workout this AM was the first time since my surgeries that I used my hand paddles as they were meant to be used. I am happy to say that it wasn't too bad. Of course my time going 70% was more like my old speed of 60%, etc., but my arms will get used to going hard again soon. It's nice to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

600 back/free by 50's
400 free/breast by 100's, drill/swim by 50
400 kick, speedplay by 50's
100 easy
8 x 100 P on 1:40 (with paddles ) - descend 1-4, twice, fastest was only 1:26
100 easy
12 x 50 on :50, in groups of 3, going 70,80 & 90%, last 3 did 2 at 95%, last one Sprint - only did a :37, but in retrospect it wasn't a full 100%, because I could have held that pace for quite a bit longer)
100 easy
4 x 150 free/breast/free
4 x 150 free/kick/free w/zoomers
100 easy
Total: 4300 LCM

Entering a rough couple of weeks - work wise, anyway. Better get used to it, since I may be leaving MC for greener pastures (if available) which will eliminate days off in the middle of the week. Anyway, I was just sort of getting into riding my bike again, but now I will be relegated to 2 or 3 days on my bike this week, and next week, I won't be able to get on it at all until Saturday. Guess that means caloric restriction for weight loss, instead of picking up the exercise. I hate dieting! It is very hard to swim an intense practice with no carbs on board - but I suppose I will get used to it, or else stay 135lbs for the rest of my life. Fudge. At least we are entering that lovely time of year when I get to swim LC every single morning! Love the summer time!

This is a great next level developmental workout in consideration of your circumstances! Your persistence is impressive, and inspires others such a myself towards making a best effort as possible day by day.

You're very kind. I noticed you get in about 6500 for your workouts (animal!). Just trying to get back in shape & then on to hopefully some decent times.
You swim at FGCU - Florida Gulf Coast? That is a lovely facility - went there a few summers ago for Senior Champs.

Yes - Florida Gulf Coast University, the Aquatic Center is a good training place because the water is cooler in the 50M pool, is always clear, and Neil, FGCU Head Swim Coach, is a great guy, a broad minded advocate of swimming, and is recruiting high caliber student athletes each year to the FGCU men's and women's swim teams. If there is 20 min left in his practice and the outside lane is open, he will let me jump to start my warm up. FYI - I expect to vary my yardage more soon, just trying to get a good startup base for 5K OW swims for late summer/fall.
