Still feeling tired. I realized that, normally, this would have been a recovery week for me. I probably should have knocked off weights last Saturday for a week. Whenever I skip a recovery week, it catches up to me. I had thought I might not need/take one with Omaha looming, but apparently not so. And I'm done with upper body weights until after Nats. I've been feeling the "weight" of them in my speed sessions and really want to crank some quality AFAP work in the pool. May just do plyos from now until 3 weeks out. It doesn't seem like it was all for naught, as in just 4+ weeks, I've gotten stronger or possibly regained strength I had lost.

I may see Speedo-Tri tomorrow. He will probably be doing another 1000 for time (ugh!) and I'll be doing a recovery workout so I can attempt some AFAP 50s outdoors on Friday.

It makes no sense to do weights before an event or meet unless you don't care an iota about the result. Plus, with your bike/run events, lower body weights could cause some real, and very unpleasant, fatigue while racing.

TG will now post another pic suggesting we are hot house flowers.

You should pace Speedo every 8th 25 on his 1000 to keep him honest!

True that! I think he was loafing last time.

A little speed work is good for even you D folk!

So glad that Jeff was on top of the hotel situation. Hopefully the social will be early enough for Rachel. Maybe the forum dinner on Saturday too!

I'm thinking more to keep him honest as far as going 1000 yards. 900 might look the same to a sprinter, but hold him to the 1000.

I actually did a little Leslie-like workout tonight...mostly because I killed myself last night, and couldn't think of anything better to do. After I was done tonight, I'm even more worn out than the night before!

I can't imagine attempting a HIT workout when I had just "killed" myself ... I'd be too tired to put in a true AFAP effort. But kudos to you for the attempt and I hope you slept it off!

I'm not sure what I was thinking, honestly. I think I'll have to play "sprinter" today, and take a day out of the pool, then hit the warmups on Friday and get ready to race this weekend.

I have to set some TT times for That Guy to try to beat at his little meet in Nebraska.

I'm actually excited for some fast swimming! My eyes have been opened to new ways to train this year!!!

The hotel that closed was NOT one of the nationals hotels just to be clear. We had booked a hotel about 16 miles away (an extended stay type place) for Trials and that was the one that closed. Very nice that Jeff called to confirm our reservation. I can't imagine the scene had we shown up and found out it was now apartments and no longer a hotel! And the place we found to stay is much closer to the pool! We'll be staying in downtown Omaha for our nationals. I think I might have caused Mollie some panic by my note on Facebook the other day! Not to fear, the original hotel had nothing to do with masters nationals!

See you at the pool! Watch out, I'm bringing a whole bunch of Roddins with me!!!!
