  • Set 2 - Swimming LCM continues to be an adjustment from SCY. It seems to take so much more effort to go 1:12 than at 1:16.

How long have you been back at LCM? We start back the first of the year - I sort of dread those first two weeks! OMG, I get so tired when we start back long course!
Interesting interval choice for your 21 x 100's, BTW, especially given your strength & speed! The ATAC coach I swim under would never allow me such a nice interval, lol. One of my favorite sets for our NY 5000 is 21 x 100's - two free on 1:20, one IM on 1:40 (SCY).

Yes, the 2:00 interval is a bit high, in part due to my third day of LCM, sore from dry land, and that interval was more for my friend sharing the workout with me. Soon however, I would like to do a similar set on 1:40 and/or 1:30, and as for 1:20 in LCM I would need to be in really great shape, but I would certainly give it a try with other motivated swimmers to go with. I would love to workout with a team like your ATAC, but the local USA Club workout sessions do not match my schedule at this time.

Ah, you didn't notice the 21 x100s I was referring to we're short course yards!!

I was going to ask the same question about when your team switches from short course to long course. Apparently my team switches in March. I guess with mainly age group swimmers it sort of makes sense but comes when my masters will be moving to quality and taper. When did you move to long course and why now?

The FGCU aquatics staff switched the pool to back to LCM on 12/14. It will be LCM all year except for about 10 weeks when local high school swimming is a Fall sport. The head coach for the college team likes to train LCM and will use the SCY diving well pool to sharpen up for SCY events at college competition.
