Comments:
I was looking to go 5025, so 5100 was beyond my expectations. We set up digital clock on my left side and I swim two lanes nearby so I could see it clearly. It was more or less a solo swim, however several of the Swim Florida Jr/Sr Group swimmers took turns pacing with me, which made it more interesting. The first 40 minutes I just paced myself carefully with the clock, and then having more confidence I could do this, I gradually increase my effort the last 20 minutes.

Thank you! I think doing the five events you did at the meet would have been harder!

Not a chance!! I don't really like to really really long distance stuff without breaks in between. That's why I don't really care too much for OW, though I can do it if I fall off a boat.

Thank you for your comment Stewart!

I watched the clock closely for the 100 splits, which are easier for me to track when swimming than 50 splits. I knew if I could get the first 1000 out not too fast, but a comfortable 11:50, that I would be OK the rest of the way. The JR/SR USA kids swimming the target pace with me helped a lot. The girls were great swimming just one stroke ahead, while some of the boys would just show off and zoom 5-6 yards ahead.

Thanks so much! Someday I hope to graduate up those longer lake swims and give them a try too as well as having a family vacation.
