Comments:
The water temp was good again and I was more at ease in the water today, but did feel some moments of unusual escalated HR with only moderate effort. Earlier this morning at wakeup my HR was 59 instead of normal 47-48, which may have also been the case Monday am too. It this continues for the remainder of the week I may go in to see the nurse practioner at our health clinic, which can be done on a walk-in basis. For the most part I felt fine considering I only swam one set with extended effort over 150 HR.

Hope you're feeling better! I got a GI bug about a week ago myself. Didn't bother to check my HR, but then I got a cold this past weekend (sick two weekends in a row, lucky me) and I ran a fever so bad my lips were chapped for three days. Fevers will cause an elevation in HR you know. Hope that's all it is!

Thanks so much for your comment. I never thought to check my temperature for fever, but I tend to be oblivious to mild fevers unless my wife tells me to check because she senses something. Other than that, I am generally aware of changes in how I feel day to day although perhaps confused at times whether various aches and pains are normal for any age, or age related, and/or because of the beating my arms take on quality swimming days. This morning my HR was back to normal, and I swam a strong workout at near maximum capacity.

Can you tell me what a GI bug is. Chapped lips...that must be some fever. I hope that your cold and fever are completely gone, and I read that you able to make a good effort and your workout today.

A question about muscle rubs. After a long workout of quality swimming sets resulting in aching arms, when I massage muscle rub (10% Menthol, 15% Methyl Slicylate) to my arms, that area is stinging like a sunburn for 5-10 minutes (although it does not feel 'hot'. The benefit appears to be helpful for 1-2 hours, and then I use stretches and bands which are equally or more effective. Just wondering if those muscle rub active ingredients are the most suitable or are there other alternatives to investigate.
