In from the cold

Between Thursday night and today, I saw a lot of the bed (clocked almost 10 hours one night on top of some solid naps in the day), downed a good amount of Nyquil & Sudafed, and did next to nothing in terms of exercise, all in an effort to combat the cold/flu thing that came over me at the end of the week. I did go over to the pool finally on Sunday afternoon for a sluggish and weak-feeling 2,750 SCY. I felt a little better today, but didn't push much, just focusing on stroke count during the main set:

Warmup sets (1,500 SCY)
  • 1 x 400: IM, kick/drill by 25
  • 4 x 100: on 1:20, free swim w/agility paddles
  • 4 x 100: on 1:45, IM kick w/board
  • 6 x 50: on 0:50, #1 and #6 free easy, #2 to #5 IM order swim


Main Set (1,650 set / 3,150 total)
3 rounds of:
  • 5 x 100: on 1:30, focus on stroke count
    • Round 1 going 10-11-11-12 by lap, held 1:07s
    • Round 2 going 11-12-12-13 by lap, was 1:04s
    • Round 3 going 11-12-13-14 by lap, was 1:01s

  • 1 x 50: on 1:00, easy


Cool-down (100 set / 3,250 total)
  • 4 x 25: going 10-9-8-7 strokes per lap

TOTAL: 3,250 SCY

Commentary:
  • I didn't lose as much training time or ground as I thought I was going to from this infection. It came on really strong on Thursday and Friday nights, but I think my aggressive rest and medication regimen helped to stave off the worst.
