Just got in an easy recovery swim today after a deep tissue massage yesterday.

Got some fun news. My BFF, a high ranking national security official, is being transferred to Paris for a couple years. With Lil Fort at away camp in August and the Pitt pool closed, I see a getaway in my favorite city! This will come after a 2+ week vaca to Europe with the fam and friends. So probably no long course for me this summer unless I can find an early season meet. It could be my first season completely off since I can remember.

Yeah, I know. But being gone for 2 1/2 weeks with no swimming would have been bad news for Nats anyway. I feel like I've had sub par LCM meets when I've done that in the past. Though I might have come just for fun or to do a couple 50s and relays. Hopefully, I can find an earlier LCM meet.

I can't believe how excited I'm getting! I will always pick travel over LCM.

Thanks so much for the info. I will definitely have some time to get in some swims amongst my luxuriating in Paris culture.

Come to Maryland and say hello at least. I'm swimming in that one

I will definitely try if I am not gone on that exact weekend. It's somewhat possible that Teen Fort will be there too, and I wouldn't want to miss her either. Or Mollie!

I thought you loved SCY? No Zones appearance?

I am better at SCY, but I get more anxious about it because of the flip turn.

I like my turns. The 50 free long course seems to go on forever. I think I need more upper body strength/endurance for long course.

As for Zones, no, I have not been swimming at all. Just doing strength training right now.

Do you have plans to get in before Nationals? Hard to fake long course, even if you are a young stud.

Yes I'll do some water jogging this summer for sure.

That's all I'll be doing this summer!

This is weird. FINA rankings for 2013 are out. I'm #1 in 50 free long course meters and #4 in 50 free short course meters ... I really had a crap SCM meet in December. That should never be the case.

#1 in 50 free LCM is the best event+ranking combo possible. Just my opinion.

Well, it is definitely a career first in that event for this short course specialist swimmer.

2013 was just weird all around- I made 200 back in short course, but not long course. *And* I made it in 100 back! Thanks for mentioning that the rankings are up- you made my day!

And tell Ali if she's coming to LC nats and you're not, we've got a spare room that she's more than welcome to crash in

Can you please share the link to 2013 World rankings? I have been looking for these for a few weeks but have not seen them on the FINA website. Thanks.

That is crazy! Congrats! I would definitely have thought you would have made it in long course over short course. For me, I think it helped that I switched my training to Mason for a month or two before Zones and did a lot of long course AFAP 50s in practice. Training short course for long course just doesn't cut it for me.

    I'll tell her.

It's not obvious. You have to look under "Statistics."

I had been looking there but was looking at the formal links by year and did not see 2013 so never went further. Thanks for the help.
