After a long rest

Week 80 - Tuesday

I swam in the Santa Monica a Aquatic Center this morning. Instead of swimming with the master I swam in the lap swimming lanes; in hindsight I should have joined the Santa Monica masters. The session started out ok with me being the only person in the fast lane of a great 50m pool but ended with a pretty crowded lane with a woman who wore fins and was all over the place. She even complained when I accidentally clipped her as I passed. This despite kicking me in the face more than once with her fins. Apparently she did not appreciate me clipping her but a fin in the face was ok. Despite being annoyed I counted to 10 and pretty much ignored her. I swam most of my main set pretty well and enjoyed the really awesome pool.

As many descending 100s starting at 1.30 and dropping a second per 100.
8x50 kick on 1min

warm down
8x100 free with snorkel on 1.30

total 4400lcm

i ended up going down to 1:05 which was 26 x100s. A great setup!

    i have only been back in the pool 19months and last summer I got quicker and quicker. I am guessing my base is between 1.10-1.12 LCM right now. This was a very good set for me. I am really hoping to continue to drop times this summer ahead of worlds.

    On the upside, you got in LCM.

    Sorry about the less than optimal experience there. When I dropped into Santa Monica, they had the pool setup SCY and the entire length of the 50M was open for lap swimming, so everyone had their own lane.

    Assuming you can still make it to Burlingame tomorrow AM, expect 3-4 people per lane for their Masters workout, but experienced circle swimmers so you won't have to deal with snotty noodlers kicking you in the face!

    My trip is going well thanks but extremely busy.

    Butterfly day, I bet that hurt!!! Was everyone there?

    Definitely a glass half full swim. Amazing facility and one really unhappy local resident. Swimming LCM was awesome. I would 100% go back despite the local resident.

    I cant wait to swim in the morning. I have yet to swim with a masters group who have been anything other than friendly. I am putting the Santa Monica comments down to a noodler. See you in the morning.

    A lot of people were there including a new guy which I will be surprised if he shows up again because he thought swimming would be easy. You should have seen the look eileen gave me when I requested more butterfly. The first set was 12x50's drill down swim back with fins and the second set was 2x200s swim on 20 sec rest without fins. It actually did not hurt that bad it was the 8x100's on 1:15 that really hurt which we did after the butterfly. There is a new girl that I think we can convince to compete after she gets back into shape.
