100 fly drills
8 x 25 shooters w/fins @ :45

Main Sets:

6 x 25 burst + cruise @ 1:00
100 EZ

5 rounds:
10 x 25 @ 100 pace @ :40
50 EZ @ 1:30

R1&2 = fly, R3= back, R4 = breast, R5 = kick

100 EZ

5 x 50 DPS back with paddles

Total: 3250

I didn't want to kill it with a lot of AFAP work today bc I'm hoping the pool will be set up long course tomorrow. Still, I was plenty tired by the 5th round of the USRPT type set. And it probably has some value for long course 50s.

Glad to see the Charlotte Grand Prix is on TV Friday and Sat nights!

    Well, 50 x 25 with a break after each set of 10 -- not quite USRPT and not in the same stratosphere as 50 x 50. No idea how anyone could do that one ... I could make 1 x 50 @ 100 pace and then I'd be done for awhile. That's partly why I don't think USRPT should be the only way to train for sprints. For masters, those 50 sets seem more suited for what Glenn is doing.

    Yea, I noticed that, but there were still fifty of them.

    not in the same stratosphere as 50 x 50. No idea how anyone could do that one ... I could make 1 x 50 @ 100 pace and then I'd be done for awhile.

    But that's still easier than 2 x (30 x 25), which would more along the pure USRPT model. And I did use fins on fly and the kick, and I gave myself the benefit of the doubt on backstroke (close enough). I've done 2 x (30 x 25) @ :40 in a workout but typically use fins and miss one halfway through. I think when you get to geezer status, it's hard, as you note in your post, to grind them out all the time. We're not the supremely well conditioned kids that Rushall has in mind.

    Yep, Universal Sports. Fortunately, that comes with our package since switching to Verizon FIOS.

    Live stream's not too bad if you have a good size computer screen.
