After a long rest

Week 96 - Wednesday

Rate this Entry
I set an all time early to bed record last night by falling asleep on the couch at 6pm and being in bed at 6:30pm. I slept the entire night and felt much better this morning. Work is quite stressful at the moment and not what I really wanted before Worlds, but it is what it is at this point. I am suppossed to go to dinner with a customer tonight but have decided I will go for a soft drink and then bail(luckily two other guys I work with will be there to hold the fort).
Todays workout was pretty straight forward and I backed off on the intensity as instructed by Tom on the kick set. The pool was still setup scy.

Warm up
400 free with snorkel
6x50 catchup on 45

Main sets
6x50 finger tip drill/swim by 25 on 1min
12x50 kick descend 1-4,5-8,9-12 on 1:15
4x200 swim with snorkel on 3:15mins at 80% effort
12x25 odds from a dive with 5 strokes, and evens easy from a push on 1min

Warm down
100 easy

Total 2800scy

I descended the kick as instructed but probably on dropped to 80% effort. The 200s I felt pretty good but just concentrated on long strokes and descended the set from 2:15 to 2:10 at about 80% effort. The dives I felt good and cruised with my 5 strokes.

6:30pm? I was pretty happy that I fell asleep at 9:30pm

Will you be able to completely dis-engage from work while at Worlds or will you have to stay in touch? When I've swum best at a big meet, I've managed to check out of work a day or two ahead of the meet and then not have to worry about work during the meet. It's been rare that I have done that, but, when I have, I have almost always been much more successful at the meet.

So one of the reasons why this week has been so stressful at work is that I am trying to go away for 2 weeks with zero contact. Now it may not happen but I am working really hard to tie up some loose ends and do some meetings this week that could wait but would no doubt lead to fires while I am gone. I have this customer dinner tonight and I believe I can get away with going for a drink and leaving after 30minutes(famous last words). I would really like to be in bed before 8pm again tonight.

Good luck tonight and I wish you success in your goal to be out of contact during worlds.

I feel your pain about work. I don't think I'm jittery yet b/c work has been really stressing me out lately. Unfortunately, I spent this morning figuring out how I can insert conference calls between events on Wednesday. I do NOT like to be distracted by work at big meets. It takes me right out of my head and I can't concentrate on either work or the pool.

I hate work dinners. I hate customers. That's why I stay far away from sales and marketing.

Thanks guys. I managed to finish a bunch of loose ends yesterday so fingers crossed work is ticking along while I am gone. At least for next week. The following week I will no doubt be visiting museums and art galleries with my wife(her interests) so I may have something come up that I must take care of
