LCM Swam a 10k today in ...

Whitney and Chris Coached
swim center
6:30 am

split lane with Larry
swam beside Tyler, Bryan, and Ed
jon counted and timed me
todd counted and timed tyler and larry
we started right at 6:30
wore blue seventy and no cap

went 2:19:33.52
8373 seconds
1:23.73 pace
my 5000 split was 1:08:58

10k is a long way

I swam 1500 straight in 19:26
took a little break
then started doing repeat 100's on 1:20
which was a mistake
took a break after 2900
the next 100 was 1:55

started feeling hot and wished I'd wore a legskin instead of a full body
switched from 1:20 pace to 1:25 pace at 3400
Break at 3600
next 100 was 1:44

hope to enter my 100 times later it's a lot of data
held some of my best splits
between 6300 - 6800
Larry had taken a break and I decided to put another lap on him

I feel like I took too many breaks
it was a mistake to do repeat 100's
should have done 400's, 500's or 1000's

I had my drinks in a cooler
should have had them on deck ready to go
I had several GU's, larry used power bars

I'm tired,
my arms are sore,
need sleep

Dude, that's impressive. I haven't gone more than about 5,500 as a Masters' swimmer and I'm supposedly the former d-man. Nice job.

So are you saying the 100s after breaks were slow because you've included the time of the break in that 100 time, or was it just difficult to start swimming again after the break? Good comment about the full-body suit getting too hot. I probably wouldn't have thought about that.

Still a pretty good time. That's a long way!

Nice one Ande. Hopefully it will help you meet your goal.

Yes, good point about the suit, although there must have been some benefit from the added buoyancy so I guess it was a trade off.

    How do your shoulders feel?

    Thanks pat,
that's my furthest by a long way
I did a 6000 work out a few months ago
I wanted to go a little faster

the 100 following the break was slow because it included the time of the break. in the postal hour swim tyler took breaks after each 1000, I felt better and refreshed after each break, felt hot in the b70, wished the water was cooler

    Thanks ericorca

I didn't meet my 10k goal maybe I'll meet my goals for this season, 10k is a a long way

the interesting thing about the 10k is
a 1 second difference in pace is
a 100 second difference in your overall time

a 3 second difference in pace is
a 5 minute difference in overall time.

    syd,
b70 buoyancy helped, I'm curious to see how I would have done in a leg skin or a FS PRO full body.
my arms are fine, each pec I've got two lines where my suit chaffed me raw

I meant the goal of dropping weight by the next meet. Unless you recovered with a bucket of ice cream, I am sure the 10k burned a few calories you didn't otherwise need.

Your 10k goal was much harder than burning a few extra calories.
