I had Mr. Fort give me a massage las tonight. I told him to take it easy, but I was a little sore today.

I've decide that I am going to attend NE Champs. That will give me 5 solid weeks to train after the Sprint Classic with a 2 week taper. Plus, it will be fun to actually swim some relays with the team that I joined (Stewart's RAM).

I'm not sure what to enter ... It is an odd OOE with the fly/back sprints back to back.

I already have good times in the 50 fly and 50 back this year. I'm tentatively thinking of:

Saturday:
200 free (50 split, this spot seems better than later if I want to be fresh)
100 back
50 breast (wish this was later, but no good place to do a split request)
100 free (50 split)
mixed 200 medley relay (I would swim fly)

Sunday:
100 IM
50 free is too soon after the 100 IM for me ...
100 fly or 50 back
mixed 200 free relay

Any other thoughts?

    You're there, you'll have swum all of your events, so you grab Stewart, Mark and a fast 50+ woman such that the sum of your ages are over 200 and you take down this BLUFROG Masters world record in the 800 mixed free relay:

    BLU FROG TEAM 08:53.46

    BOHLKEN Ross
    SHONKWILER Cathy
    JONES Eney
    SWITZER Keith
    I figure that Stewart and Mark can deliver 2:00 to 2:05, so max of 4:10 between the two of them, leaving you and the other woman the challenge of delivering 2:20s.

    wouldnt that be a great way to close a meet?

    Dave Sims and a mixed team from Illinois Masters took the record down a couple of weeks ago. I believe it's 8:37 now, which is fast. I had suggested the same thing and if we can twist Leslie's arm enough We would have a great relay.

    You guys are so funny. I'm not even sure that I can count to 8 or do that many flip turns. My training is all anaerobic. Much easier to go down in distance than up in distance.

    Yes and no. You say your training is all anerobic. I understand what you mean, but you actually get in a lot of yards if you add it up. Some of your practices, especially recently, have been in the 4000 scy range. You don't go that far per practice without developing quite a bit of that so-called "aerobic base". In case you have forgotten how to swim a 200, I love this explanation:
    http://swimcoachdirect.blogspot.com/...implified.html
    In a nutshell:
    Swim the first 50 like you are giving a stroke demonstration;
    swim the 2
    nd 50 giving a stroke demonstration with some extra power added in;
    on the third 50 show me your kick;
    on the fourth 50 show me your character.

    Not sure about counting to 8, but you do have 10 fingers so you should be ok up to 250 scy or 500 lcm.

    My yards are higher than a typical sprinter only bc I do a lot of very easy recovery swimming and kicking. I don't think slow as molasses double arm backstroke is preparing me for a 200 free.

    Do sprinters have character?

    Freestyle may be my worst stroke. 100 free is def my worst sprint event and my flutter kick is mediocre bc I never work on it.
