Hot Child In The City!

Wow, it is sweltering here today. Summer school PE was miserable. I had to beat my freshman to get them to play tennis (KIng of the Court/Round Robin Tournament), and practice some track and field stuff with their heart rate moniters on. They became compliant after a stiff beating so I rewarded them with popscicles when we finally retired to the indoors.

I had a very good solo swim today at LA Fitness. I am swimming indoors due to the big nasty gashes I have on my back and under my arms from my 5K race on Saturday. I think they got sunburnt on Sunday; now they are an irritated, puss-looking mess. They sting after my shower till I'm dry. At that point I spread a little neosporin on them and it calms them down.
I had body glide in my bag; I just forgot to use it.
Here is Wednesday's Solo Swim:

---warm-up set---
1) 200 free swim
2) 200 back dolfin kick
3) 2 X 100 IM Stretch
---main sets---
4) 5 X (150, 100, 50) All Free and done on 1 min. per 50 interval.)
5) Super 1,000 Swim (all free and done on :50 per
50 interval. Paddles used on 50's).
*50-100-50-150-50-200-50-150-50-100-50
6) 8 X 25 Freestyle Sprint (afap) Last one=:18
7) 8 X 25 Flutter Kick w/board on 45. Last one=:38
---cool down-----short, I ran out of time
2 X 100 IM stretch and glide
3,700 scy

Two more days of summer school then I'm free

    I found some 85 proof sunscreen that works great for me at meets. Hope they calm down quickly.

    I think it is funny how 92 in June is a "heat wave" in the midwest and here in Virginia it is normal.....but still not normal for me
    I think that one of my fears of OW swimming is being so close to others--I like my space. Plus the whole snake thing would have DEFINITELY sent me running in the other direction.
    Hope your last few days of summer school are less steamy.

    Ugh on the nasty gashes! So I guess you have to use body glide for all OW swims then? I bet it's painful to do your workouts with that ... I remember from my age group days in the summer, I would get gashes under my arm from the swim suit rubbing. I think that convinced me that mega yardage was bad!
