New Year...New Goals

7.06.09 Swim

It's been a few weeks since my last post. Between moving, wedding planning, having my purse stolen, work travel and vacation to Alaska and a few mini-vacations, things have just been a little busy. This week is the first week in a while that there aren't any crazy trips/plans. I am slowly finding my new routing living in Maryland, which might as well be on the other side of the earth from Virginia, at least during rush hour!

I've signed up to swim 1 day/week with a small group up near Olney, MD with a coach who coached me when I was about 15 years old at RMSC. Not sure what I'll do the other days for swimming, I might swim 2 days/week with the Ancient Mariners starting tomorrow.

Last night, swim with Bill's team (pool is SCM)...

450 warm up

12 x 50 swim with 10 seconds rest

4 times through (with fins):
100 easy swim on 1:30
75 fast kick on 1:30

3 times through:
200 free on 3:00
4 x 50 free holding same pace as 200 on 1:00

4 x 100 easy on 1:50

3350 meters total

Nice workout- I'm just getting back in the water after a month off and did a hurtful 2800 yards today. It's shocking how fitness is fleeting.

Purse stolen?!?!? That stinks. Well, at least with all of your events and mini-vacations I'm assuming there wasn't much left in the purse

I need to check out your FB page and catch up- I hope you and Jeff are well, and hope to see you soon!

I know, it's incredible what a few weeks out of the water can do to you! I have been swimming maybe 1-2 times a week lately, enough to keep from getting totally out of shape. I am going to swim at the Hains Point meet July 19th, you? I haven't swum in a meet in forever, last one was at Rutgers in December I think! Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces there!

Fortunately just $4 and some change was in my purse. I never carry cash. They used my credit card once at a gas station, my iPod was also in there along with two phones, but everything is fixable and the whole incident didn't cost me too much. Just a lot of time at the DMV, but I had to do that anyways since I just moved from VA to MD and hadn't changed my drivers license yet.

Ug- still a pain though I'm sure.

Not doing Hains Point- I think my 1st meet will be the GMU Sprint meet in October, unless something else comes up after August. I was hoping to taper in Dec but the Rutgers meet does not seem to be on this year.
