Drilling it

Rate this Entry
After hitting the weights hard yesterday, I thought today would be a good day to take it easy and work on technique. When I hit four practices a week, I try to aim for an endurance workout, a drill workout, and two intense workouts. More than two intense workouts with lots of fin work seems to wear me down. Sometimes I feel kind of lame just doing these drill workouts, but I think they help me really focus on my stroke while recovering from a hard weight workout or swim workout. Here is today's workout:

SCM

400 easy free to warm-up

2 sets of 4 x 75 fly with fins: 25 rt arm, 25 lt arm, 25 full on 1:30

200 free kick no fins

4 x 50 fly - 25: 3 rt/3 lt/3 full - 20 seconds rest

200 - free drill - alt. 25 one arm only/25 reg.

6 x 25 AFAP fly

150 easy

2100 SCM

I did a drilly workout today too, after a hard LC one last night. It's LCM that really beats me down. I have no idea how some of my teammates do it 4 x a week! Intense sprint ones can do you in as well though.

Even when I was a kid, 3 LC pratices a week was all that I can handle. My guess is that those 4 x a weekers are those blessed endurance athletes that I so envy.
