We don't have practice this week. It's our "week off". This has allowed me to get more sleep but also to be lazy. I've been really irritable this week I'm thinking it's because I haven't been swimming. I've also been more tired during the day, I think because of lack of lack of exercise. Since last Thursday I've worked out once. UGH!!!

I'd love to get a run in today but I've got two appointments after school and a bunch of running around to do to get ready for convention tomorrow. So if I did get a run in it'd be at 9:30 and without dinner so ... I'm PLANNING on getting up early and going. Maybe I'll be both more awake and less cranky if I do.

As for during convention I have no workouts planned. We shall see.

End rant/whining/

I think you can probably find some way to do butterfly kicking drills on dry land during the conference. Just undulate in a rhythmic pattern, slowly exhaling through the nostrils. Keep your knees bent slightly, your ankles flexible, and your upper thighs squeezed tightly together like the lower half of a mermaid, fusing into one extended and be-scaled torso of writhing musculature!

Sorry about the lack of exercise. No endorphins = cranky.

Have a great time at convention!

Jim, you forgot to mention that she should incorporate kegel excercises while doing the above...

Bill, excellent advice about the kegaling.

I often have my female swimmers do dryland Kegal exercises during simulated inverted breast stroke kicking sets.

Heather, start off easy, but over time you want to build to where you can do 1 second kegal contraction, 1 second relaxation, repeat, for maybe two hours total.

Let me know when you have built up to this, and then I will suggest some more advanced work.
