4 x 25 easy speed fly, 25 EZ after each

200 easy

Total: 1200

Hit the hottub for 10 minutes and took a long hot shower to try to ease the muscle tightness across my back and shoulders. It's probably from all the tossing and turning, and probably why my fly feels like crap. No matter, I'm in a fabulous mood and refuse to dwell on it.

Also tried the Speedo Aqua V cap today. My goggles would barely stay on with it, it's so slippery. It also gave me an insta-headache. I'll have to bring excedrin to the meet if I use that thing ...

Spent the morning at the Tom Dolan meet. Only one masters swimmer there, but he schooled the young studs. Wally Dicks broke the national records in the Mens 45-49 50 and 100 breast, in 27.3 and 58.94. The 27.3 was his 50 split in the open 100. That's bookin'! We'll see how fast he is tonight. Edit: He swam a 58.55 tonight. Woot!

And, happily, my clutzy evilstroker swam well, making champ finals in her beloved evilstroke. It's seriously hard to believe she's my daughter with the state of my own evilstroke.

Driving to NJ tomorrow. Looked at the timeline. The 50 back isn't even until 4:00 and the 50 fly is at 5:30 .... I could easily have made it down in time to warm up and swim. Kinda disappointed about that. But I'll just hit the pool and cheer for friends before hitting the Harvest Moon Brewery where someone will be celebrating a birthday.

    Good Luck this weekend. I have been looking over your taper workouts and I don't think I could handle that little yardage. If I don't do 3000 I feel I didn't do anything.

    Of course tomorrow will be short since I am not going to be able to swim at the Aquatic Center so I will be swimming for a short time with the kids. One of my young swimmers wants to try to do a 500 fly so I told her I would swim it with her. Last night she surprised me when I asked her to do a 100 Fly while everyone else was doing 2x100 back and she did her first ever 200 Fly instead in 3:35. Not bad for a 10 year old. I can't wait to see her 100 Fly in 2 weeks.

    You wearing the goggles under the cap? I, too, find it slippery, but, on Ande's advice wore them under and it worked well ... though my streamline still slips a bit.

    Patrick, I'm looking forward to meeting you this weekend! I just stuck the goggles over my cap in warm up. But I was planning on using 2 caps and putting the goggles under for the meet. We'll see how it goes ...

    Good luck! I stopped by Saturday morning on my way back to Long Island from Virginia and swam the warmup. Great pool with some history. I was talking to an age group coach who told me Rutgers is where Rebecca Soni swam.

    J, it was SCY, but Wally's an awesome swimmer. And he's only one year out of RC surgery!

    Sorry I missed you, Rob! Got there around 5:00 on Saturday, but in time to see Chris' record in the 200 back.
