Donna, forget the ibuprofen. Contrary to popular opinion and belief, it will not do anything to heal your shoulder, in fact, it may contribute to delayed healing. Tylenol will provide as much pain relief but with less likelihood of compromising soft tissue repair. Sore shoulders from overuse are not tendinitis (as usually described) but tendonosis. Not, in other words, inflammatory--if anything, kyboshing inflammation here reduces the blood flow that could help hasten tissue remodeling.

    Ice good.

    Tylenol okay.

    Ibuprofen probably a mistake.
