Big Day -- NOT

Rate this Entry
Too damn tired to do a thing today!! My upper back is still sore from weights on Saturday and was shocked back to reality with an early wake up ... I'm always a tad gloomy after a holiday/vacation. Getting a deep tissue massage tomorrow -- that should help!

But I did get my USA Swimming card in the mail today. So I'm set for the Jan. Open.

Also am sending in my entries for Auburn:

Saturday:

100 IM
50 free
100 back
50 fly

(Will scratch either the 50 free or 100 back. Probably the 100 back as there's only one event between that and the 50 fly.)

Sunday:

100 fly
50 back
50 breast
200 IM

(Will do either the 50 breast or 200 IM. There's nothing I'm really dying to swim after the 50 back and the 100 free is right after and thus not an option. Guess I could also do a split request in my 200 IM.)

we know who your upper back back really got sore,
blame it on training and weights
    yeah right

thanks for the reminder I need to get my 2009 USS card too

not sure if you can do a split req for the
50 fly in the 200 IM
think the split has to happen in an actual butterfly event

    swim fast

Ande: Split requests for Fly in IM events are possible.

Fort: YOU swim a 200 IM? Man, I would pay money to see that. That's 2 lengths of EvilStroke, you know?

    hahaha, Wolfie, one day!

Can't decide what to swim. Order of events on Sunday is:

    100 fly
    200 breast
    50 back
    100 free
    200 back
    50 breast
    200 IM.

Ande also suggested I could get either a 50 or 100 a backstroke split in the 200 back.

    Sunday:
    100 Fly
    50 Back
Then after that it all depends on your goals
If your 50 back is a good swim, then maybe do the 200 back straight up. If you're not happy with it, then maybe get a 50 split and warm down?
Or if your goal is a 50 Fly time, then do the 200 IM and ask for a front 50 split but the idea of swimming the remainder of the 200 IM after sprinting the Fly just makes me cringe.

Thanks, Paul. Yes, the idea of swimming the rest of an IM after sprinting the fly portion is cringe worthy. I think I'll sign up for both and decide there. I'm hoping the meet is well attended and runs slow. Otherwise, not enough rest between the fly-back events as usual.

Well, it all depends on your goals. If it's do put a good 50 and 100 Fly together than I would swim the 200 IM and get a Fly split. If it's to get a good 50 and 100 back then swim the 50 and get a front 100 split on the 200 Back. I dunno, neither of those options appeal to me personally so....

If I had my druthers, I'd like to get good times in all four fly back events. The open 100 back on Saturday is probably too close to the 50 fly, so I may pass on that depending on the meet timeline.

Do you know if you have to put in a split request at the beginning of the meet or beginning of the day or can you put it in mid way through?
