I saw that documentary on -probably- the Discovery Channel and I shivered as I watched it. I'm with Todd on this one (even though we live in Cnada).
..... Where, Oh, where did I last see my swimming suit? Oh well!

It sort of ruins the mental image Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air conjures up when you think about a guy sauntering up Everest wearing shorts and no shirt!

The linked article suggests he made it up Everest, but a couple other sources on the web say he failed on his first attempt. Maybe he's since made another attempt and succeeded. In any event very strange stuff indeed.

    Re: Cold tolerance

I have had enough of the cold.

Give me the warm life, let me swim in warm water. Let me soak up the sun. I would rather wear my shorts and sleevless shirts in the warm then make public displays of my self in the cold.

I lived in Yellownife for a few years and saw the teens wearing sleevless shirts and shorts before the ice breakup in the early spring. I saw them leave for school in a light jacket and runners at 35 degrees below zero. You can get used to cold but I prefer the other.

I am with you Todd. I hate the cold.
I keep telling my coaches, "I am a sprinter" and "they keep saying you swim short races, but that is not the same thing." - Some Girl
