    Unusual (and fun) Open Water Swim: Lake Gaston 9Aug2008

    There is an unusual event again this year. Swim or float yourself across Lake Gaston parallel to the bridge at Littleton, NC. Power boats held at bay by a flotilla of boats for the duration of the event. Just seems from the form which I see posted for this year:

    that it's going to be $20/apiece for the privilege. Note that this is near the NC/VA state line and about 20mi from I85.

    Note this is a fund raising event for the O'Sail organization detailed on the web site above. Many swimmers from Central NC participated. No this isn't USMS sanctioned, but we all had a good time and were very well monitored over the length of the swim course.

    OOPS - forgot to note, distance is about 1mi, judging by my time, considerably less!
