Yep, we'll watch Slap Shot sometime this weekend in memory. One of our favs.
I love this quote about his wife:
**"I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?" Newman told Playboy magazine when asked if he was tempted to stray. **

He brought class to an industry and a world better known for its absence.

And his salad dressing is yummy.

    Re: Paul Newman RIP

This really hit our family hard because my husband Jim was on the racing circuit with Paul and got to know him so well. We were talking today and watching a documentary on his life and what we found amazing was that Paul was one of us (all of us) with a tremendous humanitarian side. I think what best sums it up is "acting" was just his day job. He had a wonderful adventuresome spirit and a dedication to charities. I find it remarkable that he founded the Hole in the Wall ranches for ill children.

    We are sad today.

Such a great movie. I'm kind of disappointed because Slap Shot seemed to be getting snubbed when the news has been showing some of Newman's career highlights. Although I guess it would be difficult to find a good clip clean enough for TV!
