Habu that is quite a change. Do you need to tow a house? Or just want to look down at others cars?

Paid taxes on my evo, seemed high so I got it assessed. 15 years old mitsubishi appraises at $11k ? Maybe I should sell it

11K for it? That seems like a very good figure. Are you in the market for a new ride?

Re: What are the cars/bikes/cycles you drive?

I have been a reader of this thread for a long time, but never weighed in here. However, after over 2,100 miles driving my wife's 2014 Prius from Scottsdale to Columbus (via El Paso, Fort Worth, Jackson/TN) in the last 4 days, I have to give some props to the fine folks at Toyota. Now, I've driven a 2007 BMW 530i for the last 11 years and have pretty much always not liked Toyotas - their loose, floppy steering always felt more like that Buick LeSabre my Dad had in the late 80's/early 90's. Earlier in our married lives, we had scrapped our Honda Odyssey (which I loved) for a Toyota Sienna and I was sorely disappointed; the Sienna was "Eric the Eel" and the Odyssey was, if not quite Phelps, then something much more akin to the GOAT.

This roadtrip in the Prius, though, (which will continue on to Toronto) has made me a believer in at least the Prius. It is a great touring car. Plus, I packed in 130 pounds of dog (two of them), loads of stuff and still had room to spare. I'm about to be in the market for a new car for me (my beemer has over 140K miles) and am seriously considering a Prius.

And any repairs on the Prius will be WAY cheaper than the B M W [break my wallet]

No, 2 kids in college so I am budgeting. I am driving a 96 pathfinder with 260k miles, the evo8 is only driven occasionally now.

Indeed, my son has a 2011 break my wallet. The the valve canopy gasket leaks oil on the exhaust, the engine management is off (due to an unknown sensor), the car is nice but a piece of shißer. I don’t have time or access to fix the car myself. It would take thousands to fix half of the problems.

Steve - that is why we got rid of our Audi Q7. It was an ongoing elec. problem. I drive a Honda cr-v that has never been in the shop at 1/4 the cost of the Audi. OK it's not the same level but, as far as a daily driver, it's great.

Agreed the Prius is cheaper all around, but I must have gotten lucky with my BMW as the repairs were not horrible.

A little more than 140K. It's been a fabulous car.

My next car is a 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid. Haven't bought it yet (will do this or next month), but going back to my roots as my first car I bought myself was an Accord Wagon, then got a Civic, then an Odyssey. Cars have gotten so good that a new Accord feels like a huge upgrade over my (now antiquated) BMW.

Honda makes really good ,long lasting vehicles. 140 K is a good run in the Beemer.
By the way --- see you at nationals in late April in your pool. OZ

Alas, I will not be there. I've made the move to my wife's home country of Canada. If you want a "warm-up" meet before USA Nationals, come to the Greater Toronto Area and swim at this meet (March 22n-24th) attached!

Wed Jan. 29 2019 Tonight it will DROP to -25 in Chicagoland!!! So no driving of any kind is suggested!
I did see my former 2006 yellow Vette on the road last week. Good for him driving it in winter but, I'm sure it will be parked now!

Ahhh... street parking in Chicagoland when there's nowhere to put the snow! The "Chicago Tap" becomes the "Chicago Crunch" as one slides over and around the frozen ice to parallel park!

Re: What are the cars/bikes/cycles you drive?

I got my 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring edition a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. It is amazing how great cars have gotten overall, but Honda has improved from an already great position. In addition to having a much more quiet cabin / road noise than they used to, the 'high end' edition has all the right controls, all the right features in all the right places. It's a treat to drive ... and is handling the snowy roads and Canadian winter with aplomb.
