Since we are on the lcm rant, we just started in the 50m pool last week. Its been 30 years for me since ive been in a big pool, and yeh I feel it, its great. Not sure if its focus i put on my stroke or just the fact that im outdoors, its complete zen. Could also be 6 am instead of 4:30 am for the workout.

+1! Congratulations on your continued progress, Skuj. Keep up the good work, and don't get discouraged if your times plateau at points during your training.

    Indeed! Thanks ElaineK.

I mean, last week was PRs galore. When I walked down the street, PRs fell out of my pockets!!

Then this week I had a couple of meh sessions. I thought "There will be peaks, valleys, and walls. Have patience."

Then today I took 12sec off my previous 800m PR, with a 13:20.

    Re: Swim happy

My swim happy is finally getting back under :44 on the 50 breaststroke with a 43.82 at the National Senior Games, my best time since 2014. Then, in yesterday's Mixed Medley Relay, I dropped it to 43.67 after a slow start. (I wanted to make sure I didn't DQ our relay team, so I waited until the backstroker touched the wall before I started to go. No rolling start on this one!) Our team ended up with bronze medals in both the mixed and free relays. Thanks to our freestyler coming from way behind to mow down our competition in the neighboring lane, he touched him out by .08 for a bronze medal. Three bronze medals and two ribbons (5th in 100 fly, my fastest time since 2016 & 6th in 400 IM) at my first National Senior Games!

    Ooooops!! Sorry.

Anyway, today I celebrated 4 months since SRD (Swimming Realization Day) with a thrilling new PR at 100m: 1:24 (down from 1:26 a couple of weeks ago).

Will I see you at UGA? I hate to miss the open water, but my body is telling me I need to choose between Saturday and Sunday's meet rather than doing both like I would have done in the past.

EDIT: I just saw on the Georgia Masters Facebook page that Sunday's meet was canceled.
Darn! I really wanted to do a long course meet and get in a 200 fly and 400 IM. I was going to sign up for it over the weekend. Oh well... It looks like I WILL see you at Lake Acworth after all!

    Re: Swim happy

It's been quite a while since I did my Sunday Morning 1600m Slog. My old PR of 28:48 was surely going to come crashing down today.

27:41 felt happy and tempoey. (25:59 at 1500m).

I need to do this session more often.

Epic! Randy and Lane really made up for us gals-- especially me, the NON-freestyle sprinter!

    Re: Swim happy

On Tuesdays I like to do a hard 200m. The last three Tuesdays saw 3:05s. So I'm happy to be at 3:04 today.

I'm dreaming of sub3min by the end of August. Then I have about 8 months to figure out how to double that.

I SHALL be at sub6min 400m by next April!!!

    Re: Swim happy

Oh Man, I'm so happy with my new 800m PR of 13:12, down from 13:20 last week. That 13:20 was HARD, and I didn't think I'd want to even try to improve on it anytime soon. But I felt good at 13:20 pace early in the swim today, so I just rolled with it, and sped up.

    13:12 = 2 x 6:36 400m. Surely my 6:27 PR is soft!!
    Current PRs: 25m-:16.8/50m-:36.5/100m-1:21.0/200m-2:55.5/400m-6:15/800m-12:50/1600m-26:37.

    Re: Swim happy

    Finally!! Sub 18sec for 25m. 🙂
I've done low-mid 18sec many times. I even dove-in a few times and still got 18sec. (I must have been doing it wrong.)
But today, pushing off, I found a way to get to around 17.5sec.
I'll never win any medals in sprinting (or distance, for that matter), but this makes me very happy.
Now, when can I be in the 16s?
    Current PRs: 25m-:16.8/50m-:36.5/100m-1:21.0/200m-2:55.5/400m-6:15/800m-12:50/1600m-26:37.

Oh Man, I'm posting too much in this thread. Sorry. I'm just too happy!! I'll try to do a weekly report, starting next week.

Today I swam a new 100m PR of 1:23, down from 1:24 last week.
    Current PRs: 25m-:16.8/50m-:36.5/100m-1:21.0/200m-2:55.5/400m-6:15/800m-12:50/1600m-26:37.

Go Skuj & ElaineK! Congratulations on all these best times and wins. That is great to read.

Skuj, I think your progress is really impressive. And the fact you're so happy with it all is even better. Post all you like!
ElaineK, that video is wonderful! You all set the relay up well. Heart-racing to watch, too. :-)

For me, I'm more or less adjusted to swimming LCM workouts. Though since our practice is early am (6-7) I find myself still unable to fully sprint yet since part of me is apparently still asleep. heh! It is all giving me a true appreciation for SCY, my true love. I'm looking forward to our team's hosted yearly local meet at the end of August. It's short-course and I hope to have not only a lot of fun but also some new state records, too.
