MASTERS COACH

Asphalt Green is proud to have one of the premier USMS teams in the United States. AGUA Masters welcomes swimmers of all abilities and aquatic backgrounds. Athletes in the program range in ability from an Olympic Gold medalist to novice. The desire of the program is that if you approach the team with the ability to swim 100 yards of freestyle, our coaching staff can help you improve your skills and endurance to become a Masters swimmer. We have the only indoor 50 meter pool offering long-course practices in New York City.

We are currently looking for a full-time Masterís Coach to continue our history of excellence at the masters swimming level. The primary role is to be a team leader who motivates, teaches and encourages our members to achieve their unique personal goals. The ideal candidate will be a creative coach that can design workouts with competitive goals in mind such as aerobic endurance, anaerobic threshold, technique and hypoxic work, and help to develop proper stroke technique, competitive starts and finishes, and efficient turns.


Responsibilities:
  • Operate a year round training program to include 13 practices a week (exact schedule to be determined)
  • Provide comprehensive and constructive feedback
  • Conduct workouts appropriate to all levels of swimming ability
  • Work in conjunction with the Asphalt Green Aquatics staff and other coaches on issues that concern the club as a whole
  • Organize and promote social activities for the team
  • Organize and promote meets


Other responsibilities may include the following:
  • Meet management for age group teams
  • Private lessons/coaching
  • Fitness swim support

Qualifications:
A passion for the sport
Demonstrated leadership in managing and motivating a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
ASCA Level 1 minimum
Prior coaching and instructional experience
Formal swimming coaching qualifications
Current CPR, First Aid and LG certification
