More info from a NE Masters email:
The 2012 New England LMSC Short Course Yards Championship ("the Harvard Meet") has been announced. The number of participants is restricted once again (900).

Please note that the swimmers that waited and missed the Harvard meet last year will be on top of it this year. So I would predict a fairly early finish to meet registration. Also, please double check your workout group affiliation and correct it if necessary by following the directions on the back of your USMS card. Good luck and great swimming.

Please also consider participating in the mini meets leading up to the Harvard Championship. It's a great way to build on your NEM Grand Prix Award points as well. See http://www.SwimNEM.org for details.
The order of events seems quite different from last year. Decisions ....

Since I'm always interested in input for this meet, can you be more specific about what you HATE so much about the order of events?

    Re: 2012 NE scy Champs

I was bummed to see Friday's lineup - 100 Fly, 50 Fr, 200 Bk, 100 IM. I was hoping to swim all those events, but there is no way that I can be ready for the 2Bk (the best event ever!) third in the hit parade, or the IM after that! I think I can place in all these events, but will probably just swim the fly and back on Friday.

We know that the events change every year, which is cool. This year, many of the ones I like to do are on the first day, lined up. No biggie. I am sure that other folks are happy that the order changed from last year. Susan just hates that there is no 500 fly or 1650 for the ladies.

Remember - There is a fair amount of time between these events, due to the number of people in the meet. The 200 back should take around 80 minutes to complete. (It took 98 minutes back in 2007, and 105 minutes in 2010.) The 100 IM is also about that long.

Luckily, the last time those four events were all on the same day was in 2008, four years ago. Interestingly, also on a Friday that year. So it should be several years before they're all on the same day again in the future!

My issue is also with Friday. The two events I wanted to swim are the 500 free and the 100 fly but they're back-to-back. But I know that there probably aren't too many other people who actually like that combo of events. No big deal. I also know that there's certainly no way to please everyone all of the time. We do appreciate all the hard work you do.

Oh, and the 200 fly is on Sunday which is my birthday but that's just the way life goes. And that's NOT how I want to celebrate. There's nothing I'm really interested in swimming on Saturday though, which means I either need to go down and back to Boston twice, or spend the entire weekend down there.

I don't like the Friday lineup either. The 100 fly and 50 free are back to back. And the 100 IM and 50 breast are back to back. I normally swim those 4 sprint events at big focus meets. But its highly unlikely I'd swim them all on one day. But then there are always split requests.

Why do women always swim first? It seems that's the case every meet.

I would suggest that chivalry is not dead. But, then again, I also think you should stand for the anthem, so we won't open that "fascist" again.
