Well, he could be better for his age. BUT, he's still young and there's time to improve. There are many 6-year-olds around the world who are swimming a lot faster, and with more efficient strokes.

He's still a baby. Let him enjoy his swimming. and post another video in about 3 year's time. We are bound to see a vast improvement.

You were given very sound advice when you posted this same video on a UK swim forum.

As has been stated, there are a lot of 6yr olds swimming with faster and more efficient strokes, but different kids develop at different times.

What can be said is that all of his strokes seem legal and are not likely to be disqualified. For a 6yr old, that's not all that common. While there are many that have more coordinated and faster strokes, in any average given swim club, you only get a couple of those kids at best.

His display of legal stroke techniques represents that he has a good understanding of his body movements and the discipline to put more efficient changes into practice. Most 6yr olds are a mess of tangled arms and legs with no real feel for how their focus affects their strokes. He moves slowly, but is he currently on a team? It looks to me like he's been taking lessons, outside of a team, so the stroke technique and coordination have been raised to an above ordinary level, but, absent a competition environment, his speed has not yet developed.

He's in need of a good coach, and I am sure he will flourish, provided he has the will to succeed in swimming.
