Great job, Leslie! Very few people will ever have the thrill of being an honorable mention in the same awards category as Janet Evans!

I was disappointed in Swimming World this year. The Top 12 World Masters usually gets an article on each swimmer in the magazine. This year they will post articles online later.I know it is an Olympic year, but I thought this accomplishment rated more.

Congrats to Leslie...I agree with Jim!!!

Breaststroke - For the swimmer who finds the other strokes too easy!!!!!!
Congratulations to Fort and Rich! Both of you have had incredible swimming careers and are an inspiration to us Forumites!

this heat at last year's Albatross meet. I thought it was totally cool that Diann and Leslie both set world records in the same heat, little knowing at the time that both would be honored as swimmers of the year.
Is this a great sport, or what? Congratulations to all!!!
Congrats to Fortress and Rich!!!
Impressive is an understatement!

Congratulations to the top 12. However, as Allen stated, it was disappointing to see Swimming World abandon their profiles of the accomplishments of the top Masters swimmers as they have in previous years. The one issue of the year that celebrates elite Masterís success is now just a description of how the judging takes place. Seeing what the top 12 did to earn their spots was always interesting. I especially would have like to have seen them mention my teammate Laura Valís accomplishments. In what must be an unusually prolific year for record setting, Laura had 29 World Records that were on the books at the end of the year. If you counted all of the records broken during the year her total is 42. That must be some sort of record for records.
The profiles have been posted online, here.
World Masters Swimmers of the Year Featured -- April 19, 2012
PHOENIX, Arizona, April 19. EARLIER this month, we announced the World Masters Swimmers of the Year that appeared in the April issue of Swimming World Magazine. Today, we feature all of the top 12 winners!
Just a heads up. I'd say that "abandon" is a bit harsh. They will be back next year. It was just a painful production decision that happens at times in print, especially during the Olympic year. With as much Olympic material as we had this year, we elected to move the profiles to our online vehicle. I don't see this happening other than during Olympic years.
Thanks for the interest in the program! It's the most difficult and time-consuming thing I personally do every year with the magazine. However, it is well worth it featuring Masters swimmers throughout the world.
My apologies Jason. We really do appreciate all that Swimming World does for Masters. It was coincidental that the on line profiles came out at the same time I posted my comment.
They do a great job of telling the stories.
