Water Rat just threw down a great 200 free, confirming what readers of his blog know even though he doesn't, he trains for the 200 free.
Another record goes down in fine style to a Philly area swimmer:

Just a quick note for those at Nationals. There's an airport bus that stops right across the street from the Marriott complex (on Washington Street) that's only $1.75. I had to take a cab in from the airport since I got in so late, but took the bus back yesterday. Be warned that it's just a normal city bus route, so it makes lots of stops, but still it only took about 40 minutes from the hotel to the airport. If you're cheap like me and not pressed for time it's definitely a good option. It's the number 8 bus and just make sure it says "airport." Apparently some of the #8 buses don't go all the way to the airport.
Had a great time at Nationals. My swims were only so-so, but 2 best times. Here's a couple of pics from the social with Jason Lezak and Emily Silver. The first one is me, the second is ekw (Ellen).

She keeps getting closer! Even after all the previous bad mouthing, I predict The Fortress will soon be joining the zaniest, most sought after swimming fraternity: The TWEANs (Those Winning Evil At Nationals)
Great swim, Fort!
1) kick breaststroke on your back but don't let your knees break the plane of the water
2) kick breaststroke on your stomach, hands on your butt. kick your hands with your ankles

L - did you see the video of that race? Seems to me your turnover and kick are just fine. This is the only race of yours that I've seen in which you did NOT come up from the dive AHEAD of the others. I think you would have had Kim if your dive/UW were your "normal".
what made you switch to a wider pull, btw?? This year, I tried to make my pull narrower!
I widened my pull because Teen Fort told me I was spinning when I swam the 50 evil at the Sprint Classic last fall. I've also heard widening the pull was how Eric Shanteau improved his breaststroke times. My kick looked pretty wide to me in the video. I think I need some coaching help to fix my breaststroke, somewhat hard when I train solo. And honestly, I think I'd rather work more on free, which I started doing more of this year with my shoulder better. But I will continue to fake the evil. Hey, I even did the 100 this year!
