    2014 Auburn SCY Invitational

We are all set for the 2014 Auburn SCY Invitational this weekend. Looks like we have caught a break on weather; temperatures should be in the lower 50s tomorrow (Thursday), the upper 50s on Friday, and the mid 50s on Saturday, and lower 60s on Sunday, with no rain forecast Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Hopefully those coming from Atlanta and other parts north will have clear roads by Friday and Saturday when you head our direction.

Please remember that Auburn is on Central Time.

We've got 174 swimmers coming. All American Swim Supply will be there with suits and related gear. This company not only is a USMS sponsor but the owners are active Masters swimmers.

We will have at least one person who does sports massage on deck, a person who works with the varsity swim team.

The local Triathletes club will operate a concessions stand with fruits, drinks, and sports bars. Please note, however: they will not be able to sell sandwiches as has been done in years past. Turns out this is a violation of Health Department codes, so if you or your fans need something more substantial, let me suggest you pack it.

For those coming in Friday, the competition pool is open to the public from 6:00-7:45 pm. The instructional pool is open from 5:00-6:00 pm on Friday.

That about covers it - look forward to many familiar faces this weekend and some new faces as well!

    Re: 2014 Auburn SCY Invitational

A couple of final notes to those of you attending the Auburn meet this weekend.

    1. Remember, we are on Central time.

    2. If you are swimming the 1650, please remember that positive check in, in person, is required by 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the registration desk. We will seed the 1650 by 10:15 a.m. and the first heat (seeded fast to slow) hits the water at 10:45 a.m.

    3. There will be at least one sports massage therapist on deck during the meet. She/they will charge $1.00 per minute in 10 minute blocks. They will not be set up to handle credit cards, so bring cash. The therapist(s) work with the varsity swim team, so they know swimmers.

    4. There will be limited concessions sales featuring fruit, sports drinks, nutritional bars, and the like. We learned that our past practice of selling sandwiches using food from the hospitality room was in violation of health department regulations. (We think the statute of limitations has expired.) If you or those traveling with you will want something more than snacks, let me suggest you bring it with you.

    5. The best parking for the meet is immediately east of the old Coliseum; the pool is on the west side of the Coliseum. 2 minute walk. There is a men’s basketball game at 12:30 p.m. in the new Arena. Many fans for that game use the Coliseum parking lot, so parking might be a little tight after 12 noon. There is other parking available, just a little further away.

Look forward to seeing you all in Auburn!
