Froome will be tough to beat, especially with the strong Sky team along for the ride. However, Aru should have a good chance if he can withstand the rigorous course ahead

More importantly, of those in the top GC spots, who will ride clean, test clean, and actually BE clean of PED's?

Stage #1 Condator crashes in the 1st half hour of the stage and is taped up on his bike for his back & shoulder.
A tailwind in the last few miles brings the pack speed up to 50mph/80kph!!
The sprinters were ready at the finish. Mark Cavendish wins the sprint and also gets to wear the Yellow Jersey for the !st time in his career. 2nd was Marcel Kittel with Peter Sagan 3rd.

Stage #2 of 21 113.7 miles starts out in the rain. A breakaway from the start gets out to 6 mins. A lone rider from that group makes it to the last 500 meters and is caught by the peloton that pulls back 3 mins. in the last 7 miles.
Peter Sagan wins the sprint stage to pull on the leaders yellow jersey. @ nd on the finish is Julian alaphillipi with Valverde third. This is Sagans 5 TDF stage win. Richie Porte has a flat close to the end and is 1:59 back now. This means teejaa Vangarderen will become the team's main leader. Contador has a 2 crash today and is 1:02 back.Froome stayed out of any trouble and is only 14 secs. back.

#3 0f 21 The peloton tried to make it an easy ride today. A lone frenchman took off to lead for 4 hours when Voekler went off the front to make the 2 rider breakaway stay out .At 45 miles to go they had 3 min. at 32 miles to go down to 1 min. they were caught at 5 miles to go by the sprint team lead out trains going 32 mph. a slight uphill finish and a photo finish between Greipel and Cavendish . a 2 min.wait ----- and Cavendish is declared the winner. This makes Cav. # 2 in all time history of the Tour with 28 stage wins!!!

#4 0f 21 A much warmer day today,84 degrees, for 147.6 miles. As usual , a breakaway of 4 then 3 start out. At 75 mines they have 6:30 --- at 38 miles they have 2:00 at 25 miles they have 1:00 & the last 2 of the break are caught at 2 miles to go. The sprinter teams have a slight uphill finish again today. Cav is too far in the pack to contend. The 3rd place sprinter in stage #3, Bryan Coquad almost takes it BUT, by 1 inch it is Marcel Kittle of Etixx-quick step that wins the stage, Sagan is 3rd and cav. is 8th . Froome is again protected and is biding his time waiting for the mountains.

#5 of 21 134.2 miles in the 3rd long day so far. It ,again, was a breakaway day 3 off the front with a pack of 6 after them . They had 9:41 at 65 miles --- 12 min. at 54 miles --- 14 min. at 45 miles --then it starts up hill into a long mountain climb. Thomas DeGent and Greg Van Avermaet go to lead and will keep it all the way. Movistar pushes the pace hard and drops 1/2 the peloton including Contador. The stage is won by Van Avermaet { team BMC }to put him into the yellow jersey, the GC guys were 5:07 back, and 2nd is Degent tout him into the King of the Mountains jersey.

#6 of 21 118.4 miles 85 at the start going up to 90+ in the heat. The BA of stay out for 100 miles before getting caught at 13 miles to .
It will be a flat finish with many looking to cash in on the last sprinters stage for a while. The peloton is going 40 mph at 3 miles out .
The sprinter teams have the lead out trains going full tilt and at the line Cavendish wins again for the 3rd time this tour and his 29 th win overall. Kittle is 2nd and the top GC guys remain the same.

#7 of 21 162.5 miles today with a mountain at the end and a 7K drop from there into the finish, This is the 1st time in the history of T D F that no one has dropped out at stage #7. 18 miles to go the B A gets serious and Steve Cummings jumps out to the front ,leaves 2-3 others in his wake ,make it over the Mt. top 1st and go 40 - 50 mph on the down run into town to win the stage . 2 on the day is Daryl Impy and 3rd is Daniel Navarro. 5th is Greg VanAvermaet who increases his yellow jersey lead to 6:36 over all !!!

#8 of 21 114.3 miles into the mts. Froome surprised everyone with hie attach in the downhill portion to take back all the minutes and become the tour leader in yellow He and to push/punch a crazy spectator out of his way. The race "jury"decided to fine him $200 euros. What other major sport lets people this close to the athletes? These spectators are crazy --- !!!

#10 of 21 122.4 miles 18 in a breakaway at 36 miles to go with some big names in it. At 12 miles it's down to 7 then 6. Big cross winds break apart the peloton that does not seem interested in catching the BA. Sagan answers many challenges from the other 5 but in the final sprint Matthews wins his 1st career stage win in the T D F .Sagan is a very close 2nd.

#11 of 21 101 miles Strong cross winds cause many crashes in the narrow roads today. The peloton is going 40 mph !! As the peloton deals with the wind 4 go off the front and they are Froome - Sagan - Thomas - bodnar a team mate of Froome. We knew Sagan would win the sprint but, froome was second to gain time and a 6 second time bonus. Froome is now 28 seconds ahead of Yates and Martin. The big mountain is on thur.

    Re: 2016 Tour de France

#12 of 21 This was to be the big Mt. Ventoux finish but, due to 50 - 70 mph winds at the top it was shortened 6 K . This set up something that has never happened in T D F history. Yes breakaways happened and were pulled back except for a few. Thomas De Gendt won the stage. At about one K to go the stupid people push in soon far as to have the T V motorbike run into them ,slaming on the brakes so that Porte - Froome - Yates smash into the stopped cycle and go to the ground!! Froome has his bike driven over by another cycle that breaks the frame and he RUNS up the hill waiting for another bike! Mavic, the neutral support ,gives him a bike that does work or work that he throws on the side of road. He gets a team bike finally and finishes. The time goes to Yates but after 1/2 hour the Race Jury revises the times of the top ten to keep Froome in his rightful position at 47 seconds ahead of Yates Many more crowd control barriers are needed to control the disrespectful fans that seem more interested in getting their face on camera then getting out of the way!!

13 of 21 More wind. A time trial os 23.3 miles Tom Dumoulin takes the top spot and wins the stage . top GC riders can not come close to his time. The last man is Froome going hard to finish in 2nd on the day and put more time between himself and mollema 1:47 --- Yates 2:45 --- Quintana 2:59 Tejay Vangarderen is now up to 6th place overall.
