    Re: 2016 Tour de France

15 of 21 99.4 miles into the mts. right off the start. 30 riders make a hugh breakaway at the 1 st mt. peak. At 37 miles to go they start the 7 mile climb to the toughest mt. peak of the tour. AAt 32 miles only 11 in the lead. At 15 to go only 2. They stay away so that Pentano wins the stage and the yellow jersey group of froome and the other top G C guys finish a few mins. back. Tejay Vangarderen loses about a min. and half due to the last mt.

Thanks for your commentary - I know virtually nothing about bike racing but have become quite intrigue with the race this year - watching snippets at the gym while I am supposedly stretching. WOW these guys are amazing!

Hi Haleigh. I used to do a lot of triathlons but, after my 5th hip operation --- I swim and ride bikes a lot. Yes these guys are truly amazing in their efforts on even flat stages going 28 - 30 mpg ALL DAY till they turn it up !!! I'm glad you are enjoying my race postings.

#17 of 21 114.6 miles with 4 mountain climbs. Are the yin a hurry to get to the mts. ?? They go 32 mph for the 1st hour. A large breakaway form with some 2 - 3 rider chase groups. At 27 miles to go = 14 are in it. The peloton is 13 min. back. at 6 miles to go, 10 min. back. The Winner from team Katyusha is Zakarin on the russian team that may not be allowed to go to the olympics due to the I O C ban of all Russian athletes due to the wide spread doping cover up! In the last mile or so Porte and Froome pull an acceleration on the top contenders and drop all of them to gain some more time for them selves. Froome increases his overall lead

#18 of 21 10.6 miles of uphill and mt. time trial. Early best time is Dumolin but Fromme was the last to go beat his time to win his 2nd stage of the tour this year. Froome now leads by 3:52 over Mollema and 4:18 over Yates.

#19 of 21 90.7 in the mts. with 13,000 feet of climbing today. !4 in a B A stay out till 34 miles when it starts more steeply up. Rain start and gets heavy. This add to the downhill danger. Many crashes on the wet new blacktop with new white line paint. Dumoline and Porte crash. Froome crashes on wet painted line and get a team mates bike to finish the race stage. Romain Bardet wins the stage and is Freane's 1st stage winner this TDF. Froome is 1st @nd is Bardet 4:11 back - -in 3rd is Quintana 4:27 back 4th is Yates at 4:46 and 5th is Porte 5!7 back.

A side note of info --- They use about 1,ooo calories per hour during the race. They need to ingest about 7 - 8,000 colries a day with 8 hours sleep a night to stay ahead of the fatigue!

#20 of 21 91 miles with 4 big up & down mountains . Cold -win - rain AGAIN !! 2 leaders get out with 5:17. Nabali out front for a while till Pentane and Azagrri. Ixi takes a run at it with downhill speeds of 38 - 45 mph in the heavy rain to win the stage for Movistar and spain. Froome and Team DSky take no chances of a crash repeat and come in easy to mostly solidify his win in the TDF tomorrow.

    Re: 2016 Tour de France

21 of 21 Into Paris and some crashes and flats on the 8 circuits of the champs parkway. Griepel wins the sprint over Sagan. Froome and team Sky line up 9 across the road for pictures at the finish. 175 riders finish the race, the highest number in tour history.. This is Froome's 3rd win in four TDF races. Thanks for tuning in to my race results. It make me want to lose pounds and be 30 years younger - only one is possible. On a side note == my 5 1/2 year old grandson, Griffin Pacheco, learned to ditch the training wheels last week and is on only 2 full time now. It's fun to watch him enjoy the freedom of bike riding, Look for me in the thread on "what kind of car - bike - motorcycled you drive?"
